The New Adventure Begins

June 3 2016:

Not just the last day of traditional school. The first day of the rest of our lives. The beginning of a grand and wonderful freedom filled adventure.

They told themselves they could, so they did. xoxo

Celebrating the end, celebrating the beginning, celebrating everything in the middle …. Celebrating life and love … xoxo

Rocks and Tents and Picnics

April 10 2013:

Last Friday I had a respite (sitter) here with Thomas and Lillian while I attended a training. Thomas tells me this morning that she wouldn’t let them bring their rocks inside. (Oops!! Forgot to tell her that we’re kinda DIFFERENT! We’ve got rocks in drawers, counters and shelves!! And, sometimes even in the beds!)

He says they had to sneak them in when she went to the bathroom. Mr. T hid his in his socks! Come to think of it, she was a little surprised to see a full size tent in the middle of the living room! Team TLC is showing her a different view indeed!

Lillian’s turn to cook tonight … Pasta, french fries, brussel sprouts and carrots for me, french fries, turkey burger, bread, carrots and pear for her and french fries, bread, turkey burger, pasta and banana for Thomas! YUM!!!

Seaweed and Frogs and Cold

April 10 2012:

Time for my nightly reading and then off to bed! I leave you with my dinner conversation with Thomas tonight:

“Did you know you could grow seaweed? Wanna grow some? We can also make our own salt by putting ocean water in a jar. The water will evaporate and leave salt behind.

I want to be a scientist when I grow up. I wanna study human beings and animals. I bet scientists are trying to figure out how to help people survive in really cold weather. Did you know there’s a frog that can stay alive when they freeze? Their body fills with flucose (think he meant glucose??) and when they thaw they are still alive. I bet they are studying those frogs to learn how to help us.

Where is it the coldest in winter time? I said Alaska and he said the South Pole. Then he said he bets they use helicopters to explore the South Pole instead of airplanes cause helicopters are smaller and can go slower.” WOW!!

May 22 2016:

Lillian says she’s like a game for Thomas and I …. Except we began on the difficult level and we’re progressing to the easy level. Around here, we do things kinda different … I remember someone used to say … “Different iz Good” …. xoxo

May 23 2016:

Thomas was off this morning for the Upper El over night science camping trip with Great Basin. May he be having a fun and fabulous time!!

Thomas Camp Trip with Upper El May 23 2016
May 24 2016:
I was so excited to pick up Thomas from school and his overnight camping trip. Took him for some yummy ice cream eaten with a yummy view at one of our favorite places. Six more days til freedom!!! Wahoo!!
 May 25 2016:
Thomas says that a camp counselor told him he was weird. He responded, “It’s a trademark.” … I really like that young man. I suggested next time he add that he’s magnificent, incredible, amazing, brilliant, extraordinary, fabulous or wonderful .. Take his pick. xoxo
May 28 2016:
Team TLC library day …. Simple, complicated, beautifully illustrated, nonfiction, and fiction. We love books! Everyone takes a cart to the library, don’t they? I can’t carry them all anymore! xoxo

Truth and Dare and Laughing

April 9 2015:

For tonight’s life story Lillian chose the word “truth” for my theme. She or Thomas give me a word or two and I tell them some sort of story or tidbit from my childhood or past.

I told them about the Truth or Dare Game we played in elementary and middle school when we had sleep overs and that I got dared to eat a huge spoonful of mustard; which I did and nearly threw up!
So then we all three played truth or dare … sort of. They liked the truth questions. Then we took selfies of Team TLC with our mouths wide open to see who could open their mouth the widest.
It was so fun laughing with them. Lillian said her stomach hurt from laughing so much. I highly recommend laughing and silliness … It feels so GOOD!!

Craniosacral and The View

April 7 2015

Lillian began craniosacral therapy appointment right now and while she’s in there I finally connected with the therapist at Midtown Mindfulness and we’ve got her first appointment on Monday. Gonna talk about cognitive behavioral therapy. I’m so excited!! Wahoo!!

“You should have seen the view. You would not have believed it. You would have LOVED it.” – Thomas ….. That just melted my heart and soul and was the perfect addition to a very busy day. Thomas went hiking today at camp and says he wishes he’d had a camera to take a picture of the view. They hiked about 2 miles up from the Galena Creek Visitor’s Center.

Books and Walks and Painting

May 14 2016:

The love of reading is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself … Team TLC library day. Yay, yay, yay!!!!!

May 12 2016:

Wonderful walk with Lillian this afternoon. We saw some new ducklings and we sat in my sit-spot for a few minutes. Love, love, love.

May 12 2016:

It was my turn to choose our family activity last night! I chose to accept an invitation to paint with our fabulous neighbors. We painted, we chatted, Thomas, Cora, and Kendra painted each other’s face, and ended the fun by swimming and hot tubbing.

A different view on my walk this morning. Then a fun walk with Thomas this afternoon. Faces of people anticipating some happy news … xoxoxo …
