Lonatate and Wishes and Sorting

May 19 2016:

It was Lillian’s turn last night for family activity night. She chose for us to paint, create abstract art, and to create a made up word using 3 real words. I combined love, nature, and meditate to create lonatate … Let’s Lonatate!!

I really enjoy how creative they both are when it’s their turn. It’s fun, it brings us together, and allows us to use our imaginations and BE creative! xoxo

May 17 2016:

It was Thomas’ turn last night for family activity. He had us each make up a story that has to do with the book each of us is currently reading. That was fun!!

Then he had us each make a wish. After each wish we had a few moments of quiet so we could each send goodness and blessings that the wish makers wish come true … Or something better.

Our wishes had to do with being surrounded by loving-kindness, having strength, good health, fearlessness, love, joy, and wealth.

Pictures from a walk with Thomas this afternoon. xoxo

May 16 2016:

Lillian spent most of the day yesterday and half of today sorting crayons. She said that it is so much fun and she really enjoyed it. Right on Lillian! Do what you love and love what you do!! xoxo

May 16 2016:

Nature had amazing and beautiful gifts this morning. How did she know I was in need of such beauty and gifts? She knows. She always knows. xoxo

May 15 2016:

Windy walk before the rain. Busy day for all of us … Purging, cleaning, and giving Lovey, the guinea pig, a bath. Love our walks … xoxo

May 15 2016:

Team TLC bid farewell to our TLC gingerbread dog houses that have been with us for the last 5 or 6 years.

I bought these at 90% off in 2009 or 2010. Forgot about them for a year or two. Rediscovered in 2011 or 2012. The icing was no longer good. So, we used glue to put them together. Guess that turned out perfect as it preserved them!!

Las night as I was wiping the counter, two of them were “glued” to the counter top! They had begun their decent of falling apart ….

So, we said our goodbyes ….

Memories and fun …. xoxo

I Want to Write Books

“Mom, I bet people who write books liked to read when they were growing up and they want to write books to make other people feel good. Is that why you wrote your book? When I grow up I want to write books, even though I know it’s gonna be hard.” –Thomas Darnell ….

All this after asking why the streets in Venice are full of water and other questions I can’t even remember now!! ♥ ♥ ♥

North and South Pole and Pluto

I am just blown away by the dinner conversations with Thomas …. “Mom, I know why it’s always cold in the North and South Pole. It has to do with how the Earth rotates … (and then he demonstrates it for me).

What’s in space past all the planets? Does it just go on and on? Has man been to Pluto? Have there ever been any space emergencies? (I started telling him about the space shuttle that exploded …) He says oh, like what happened with the Titanic in the Ocean. If disasters were like family they would be cousins …”

And much more that I can’t even remember!! WOW!! Love that little dude!!

Intentions and Stairs and Sun Tea

Lillian had a great day at physical therapy yesterday. She said, “yes” to getting on the ladder and went up one step … FOUR times! YAY!!

She also told me that she going to use the stairs at least one time at the Chromosome 18 conference in San Antonio. We’ve been to this hotel before and she already knows what it’s like. There are stairs from the lobby to the 2nd floor meeting rooms and 4 years ago we had to take the elevator every time.

On Sunday she told me that in May or June she will start crossing the foot bridge (on the trail around the lake) without holding onto my arm so that she can practice for doing it along the riverwalk in San Antonio. Also, she wants to walk the entire Damonte Ranch Loop (about 4 or 5 miles) a few more times before going to San Antonio so that she can be prepared to walk as much as we’d like while there.

Then, we had a wonderful session with Alexa, her psychotherapist.

During the appointment I shared about what we’ve been up to these past 2 weeks and how it’s been going. The stories and words I shared brought tears to her eyes and she commented how much it touched her.

I am grateful and blessed that I have chosen the path of facing my own fears, becoming intimate with my emotions, traveling the path of a simpler life, and have learned the art of mindfulness … so that I can allow Thomas and Lillian to learn by example and involving them every step of the way.

It’s certainly not always joyful and I fall flat on my face at times; yet, I get up and keep going as this is the path of the heart and I am compelled to walk it.

Came home and I got tea ready to brew in the sun – rooibos and honeybush! YUM!! Picture of it brewing below.

After lunch we had Lillian’s craniosacral appointment. While there I changed this to a once a month appointment (instead of twice per month) as I just knew after her last session that this was the thing to do. Here’s a picture of Lillian outside the office.

We decided again to wait on swimming and cooking out as there were a few people at the pool and the wind was blowing. It had cooled down quite a bit too.

So we had a breakfast dinner! We LOVE our breakfast dinners!

Thomas chose the family activity last night. He chose one of the mindful activities we’ve done before. One person makes movements and sounds and the other 2 family members have to copy that person. He LOVES this one! We did this for about 20 minutes and had so much FUN!

Remember These Moments

April 20 2015:

As this day comes to an end, I’m going to remember some moments:

  • A good morning kiss for Thomas,
  • a good morning beautiful greeting for Lillian,
  • a whole-hearted conversation with a friend,
  • listening and watching Lillian talk about her love of shadows and playing with them and her love of her heart shaped blue goldstone and the prism hanging in her window that makes rainbows,
  • picking up Thomas from school,
  • a quick trip to the grocery store with Lillian and her excitement in talking about different cheeses and cakes,
  • Thomas helping me make hamburger patties (and he made me a heart shaped one),
  • his excitement over the gourmet buns I got for the burgers as we usually don’t use buns,
  • putting together a puzzle with Lillian,
  • making compliment cards with Thomas, and
  • tucking both of them into bed with a good night and an I love you.

If you had spent the day with us you would have witnessed that there were several other moments that were the complete opposite of this and did not bring forth warm and fuzzy feelings.

I chose to make this list so I could remember the lovely moments of today. Perhaps you might want to make your own too … xoxo

Can I Have A Multi-Pass

June 2012:

Most of you know that Lillian has a speech impairment … My day is filled with constantly telling her I don’t know what she’s saying ….

Sometimes I choose to make us both laugh and repeat back what I heard her say …. Tonight what I heard … “Can I have a multi-pass?” What she actually said, “Time has gone fast.” We both got a good ole laugh outta that one!! Told her I was out of multi-passes!! ♥ ♥ ♥
