Throwback Post: Book Musings: The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents

The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents

I’ve owned this book since 2009 or 2010 and it’s one I re-read and have incorporated into our family discussions.

Here are a few excerpts:

“…. However, a child who was taught from the age of three or four “You are here for a reason” would face a very different future. Such a child would see the search for meaning in life as a natural thing, the spiritual equivalent of learning your ABC’s. There would be no years of postponement, followed by desperate inner turmoil. “Why am I here?” doesn’t have to be a fearsome existential question. It is the most joyful exploration a person can undertake, and we do our children an immense favor by presenting it as such.”

“…. if I had been taught just these seven sentences as a child, my life would have been profoundly different. I would have known something precious and practical at the same time, something that would not have faded as a childhood lesson but would have ripened into mature spiritual understanding year by year.”

“A child raised with spiritual skills will be able to answer the most basic questions about how the universe works; she will understand the source of creativity both within and outside herself; she will be able to practice nonjudgment, acceptance, and truth, which are the most valuable skills anyone can possess for dealing with other people; and she will be free from the crippling fear and anxiety about the meaning of life that is the secret dry rot inside the hearts of most adults, whether they can admit it or not.”

GREAT book!!

Throwback Post: Movie Review: The Power of Forgiveness

**THROWBACK POST**

May 14 2016:

Team TLC movie night … “The Power of Forgiveness” –

Thomas’ choice tonight and 2nd time around for this one. Thomas says, “Inspirational, good, emotional, meaningful, thought provoking of good thoughts, great, understandable, enjoyed it.”

Lillian says, “Emotional, meaningful and good.”

I say, “Yes, powerful, yes.” “Forgiveness allows us to actually let go of the pain in the memory, and if we let go of the pain in the memory, we can have the memory, but it doesn’t control us. When the memory controls us, we are then puppets of the past.” ~Alexandra Asseily

Took another trip down memory lane this morning on the drive back home … This time the courtesy of The Cult’s Sanctuary and Wild Flower … Wild is right! Wild & crazy memories! Just love how powerful music can be … xoxo

**********************************

I have a very important appointment at 1:30 today. I get to be treated to tea by the amazing dude I get to call my son and his awesome classmates! xoxo

Greeted at the door, taken to a seat, served a beverage and food and then entertained with poetry from each child! YAY!!!!

“Why would someone sell something that doesn’t work just to make money?” -Thomas … In a book he’s reading right now (Johnny Swanson), one of the characters discovered a cure for heartburn and began to sell it. His family needed the money. We were talking about it and then Thomas turned the conversation to the above statement … he wasn’t really asking me a question, just making a statement. He keeps me smiling …

Thank you to Brian Benson (G. Brian Benson) for such an amazing endorsement of my book! A comment from Brian a few days before the garage purging that led to the creation of this book re-ignited my drive to write a book. Blessed and grateful to have you as a friend Brian!! “Camilla’s light shines very bright in “D iz for Different – One Woman’s Journey to Acceptance”. She offers a wonderful combination of heart, intelligence, drive and a true inner desire to help families who are going through the trials, tribulations and loving moments of having a child with special needs. By authentically sharing her own story, hers is a voice of compassion, support and guidance.” -G. Brian Benson – Award-winning author and advocate of inspiration.
