“I’m learning all about mud, Mom!” -Thomas Darnell
Thomas had a ball today playing with the water hose and dirt …. Calls me over to show me that if he squeezes the mud really fast none stays in his hand, but if he closes his hand slowly some mud “sticks”!! I loved being in that moment with him of something as simple as dirt and water!!

Throwback Post: Trees and Leaves and Ladybugs

**THROWBACK POST**

June 6 2016:

After dinner walk yesterday …. Trees, leaves, ladybugs, one cormorant, gusty wind, sitting, walking, talking, listening …. And the learning and discovering continues.

Cormorant – Now I know your name … I took a picture of this one a couple of weeks ago in what I now know as the “bat pose” and have learned that they do that to dry their wings. So cool!

Today’s walk with me theme … Delivered by turtle: Continue to walk your path in peace and stick to it with determination and serenity. xoxo

After dinner park fun last night. Took our book and did our nightly read together with nature. What a GREAT book too!

Thomas’s favorite part was being a bowling pin while Lillian and I used the soccer ball as a bowling ball. Lillian’s favorite part was the sunset and throwing the frisbee.

My favorite part. Nature + reading + Thomas & Lillian + frisbee and made up bowling game with a Thomas pin = sweet love nectar for the soul. Part 1

June 8 2016:

After dinner walk with Thomas last night. He chose to cross the water over the rocks instead of using the foot bridge.

And didn’t know I was already there waiting. This was his face when he saw me.

The joy on his face sums up our walk. He finally got to see the blue billed duck and we both got to see the pelican out of the water. Those blue billed ducks are too quick for an iPhone picture.

We talked, we sat, we walked, Thomas made me a leaf hat, a happy, happy dog joined us for a few seconds …. And, huge bonus, the sprinklers were on as we neared home.

That was a truly wonderful and blissful walk. xoxo

“Continue to walk your path in peace and stick to it with determination and serenity.” ~Me

I had just asked Mother Nature what, if any, message there was for me on this particular walk. Right after that I spotted this lovely turtle sunning on a rock.

“In moments of stillness and acute quietness, when the noisy mind is devoid of the chaotic business of thinking, an awareness of another dimension reveals itself. It is a dimension of union; the viewer and that being viewed are one. It is the ending of isolation.” ~ Del Wynn, Ack Poetically (Discovered this beautiful quote in The Curious Nature Guide)

June 10 2016:

“Look! I’m on a rock!” … Lillian notices and is intrigued by shadows like no one I’ve ever known. She notices and points them out EVERYWHERE!

Such a peaceful and serene walk last night. We played with shadows, admired the white goose, and got caught in the sprinklers.

Also got a picture of her crossing the bridge without holding my arm!!! YAY!!

Throwback Post: Great Basin Naturalists Camp – Thomas 2014

**THROWBACK POST**

June 17 2014:

Thomas has been at summer day camp the past 2 days and REALLY, REALLY wanted to stay overnight. It’s a day camp and residential camp. I’ve decided to let him. What an adventure with feelings making this decision as he’s going next week too. I surrendered to it with the knowing that I’ve hopefully taught him discernment with my words and actions. This is an amazing opportunity for him in such a truly AWEsome setting. Shoot! When I dropped him off and picked him up the past two days, I wanted to stay. So peaceful, quiet, and simply glorious! Thank you Great Basin Naturalists for having Thomas this week, next week and for a week later in July! xoxo

You can sign up to receive them in yours too using the link on her website. xoxo “The meanings of carnations include fascination, distinction, and love. Like many other flowers, different messages can also be expressed with the flower’s different color varieties. Light red carnations, for example, are often used to … ” Read more here –https://lilliandarnell.com/…/21/nature-research-for-carnati…/

Most of you know that Lillian has a speech impairment … My day is filled with constantly telling her I don’t know what she’s saying …. Sometimes I choose to make us both laugh and repeat back what I heard her say …. Tonight what I heard … “Can I have a multi-pass?” What she actually said, “Time has gone fast.” We both got a good ole laugh outta that one!! Told her I was out of multi-passes!!
