Movie Night: Roll Bounce

August 29 2020

Extra movie night for me last night. “Roll Bounce”

A movie about the roller-disco craze of the late 70’s. I’m in. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Part of my youth was spent at the local skating rink. So much fun. Ours used to have all night skates where they’d show a movie. I remember them showing Jaws for one of the movies. “All Skate”!!!

While the Mantis Prays and the Milk Glass Lamp Collapses

August 25 2020

We had a visitor yesterday. He stayed on our balcony, on the outside edge of the door for hours, from late morning until about 9:00pm. “Have patience for the situation, have patience with yourself. Be still, be silent.”

August 27 2020

I was just sitting here minding my own business. And, the lamp did this.

Sunset Walk with Dolphins While the Thunder Cracks in the Early Morning

August 18 2020

Sunset walk with Lillian. Last cloud photo looks like a dolphin.

August 25 2020

We had a cracking loud thunderstorm in the wee hours Monday morning. Woke me up with how loud, with bright lightening that lit the entire room. Woke Lillian on three different occasions, too. Thomas didn’t wake, but the cracking, booming sounds incorporated into his dream! It was wild!

So happy for it, though. As it cleared the smoke and I was able to go for a walk Monday morning and this morning.

August 27 2020

Yay for the smoke having cleared!! Went for a long walk this morning.

Charming and a Pleasure to Read on Scary Days – Words of Alchemy

August 13 2020

Thank you to Jo of Jaffa Reads Too for this beautiful review. It did my heart good to receive this in the middle of the two week break. I’ve officially been reviewed by a cat now! As Jaffa is Jo’s reading partner.

“During this global pandemic I find that I am turning increasingly to the healing nature of inspirational verse to help to me stay grounded.

Words of Alchemy is a collection of expressive free verse in which the author shares her intimate thoughts and feelings about life, love, friendship, family, the natural world and does so with a light touch and an almost ethereal longing to be heard.

I find poetry collections intensely personal, as what seems so relevant to the poet can sometimes get lost in translation, but throughout this interesting memoir collection I felt an emotional connection to the thoughts and feelings expressed by this contemplative poet. Written over a number of years this collection is the author’s very personal journey through some of her troubled times and how she found inspiration in mindfulness and observing life around her.

Words of Alchemy is easy to read either all in one sitting or, as I did, dipping into sections at whim but guaranteed always to find something beautifully written and soothing to my soul. I found the whole collection quite charming and a pleasure to read on one of those scary days just recently when the world around me seemed such a very dark place.”

Change – It Is Time

August 22 2020

I had mentioned in an earlier post that I would post an update with changes to where I focus my time.

In regards to MeetingtheAuthors.com, I will be posting less frequently. I absolutely love offering this venue to authors, and will continue to do so. I very much enjoy meeting authors and book bloggers around the globe. It’s deeply satisfying.

I had been posting two interviews a week, with either a Book Shelf, Meet the Book Blogger, or Friday with Friends post also. I’m taking it down to one interview per week, one Friday with Friends per month, one Meet the Book Blogger per month (or less if no book bloggers have returned responses to questions), with Book Shelf posts sporadically.

I’m notching down the amount of time spent on ….

Movie Night: The Darjeeling Limited

August 22 2020

Team TLC Movie Night – My choice: “The Darjeeling Limited”

I loved this quirky movie. Three dysfunctional brothers and a crazy, humbling journey. I really like the music and Owen Wilson, Adrian Brody, and Jason Schwartzman were excellent.

Just me for this one as no one else was interested. Been on my list for at least 5 or 6 years. Finally!!

Thomas and Camilla August 2020 Date Day

August 20 2020

Thomas and Camilla August 2020 Date Day …

First stop, picked up an order of Roasted Veggie Tacos from Great Full Gardens for me.

Next stop, Icecycle Creamery for a #4 sandwich and a scoop of nutmeg and scoop of key lime pie ice cream for Thomas.

Then to Audrey Harris park for a car picnic to eat our goodies. We normally would have taken a walk, but air quality from the fires is too poor.

Last stop: A movie at TLC Theater! Thomas just finished reading, ‘Heart of Darkness’ so he wanted to watch ‘Apocalypse Now’ since it was based on the book.
