Thanks for Noticing

February 29 2020

When Thomas and Lillian were younger, this was a much discussed topic in our house. They still tell me I’m weird and crazy. I tell them, “Thanks for noticing.” 😜🤣

“My kids are starting to notice I’m a little different from the other dads. ‘Why don’t you have a straight job like everyone else?’ they asked me the other day.

I told them this story:

In the forest, there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. Every day, the straight tree would say to the crooked tree, ‘Look at me…I’m tall, and I’m straight, and I’m handsome. Look at you…you’re all crooked and bent over. No one wants to look at you.’ And they grew up in that forest together. And then one day the loggers came, and they saw the crooked tree and the straight tree, and they said, ‘Just cut the straight trees and leave the rest.’So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day.” Tom Waits

Wild Horses with Huge Clouds

February 25 2020

Lovely hour long walk yesterday. Passed by a gorgeous family of wild horses that had been lounging in the construction area mess. It’s such a treat to get to see them. 🙏♥️♥️♥️🙏

Celebration Time – I’m Still Standing

February 28 2020

Tonight we celebrate (with sparkling pink lemonade)! After 8 years, a chapter of our lives full of struggle and worry has come to an end.

That’s one long da** chapter! Hallelujah, Wahooooo, YES!!, WooooHoooo …. And, I’m Still Standing … I pray to never relive that chapter …

(And, check out that cloud from a couple of hours ago. Will share more photos of that beauty later.)

Throwback Post: Good to Hear from You and Dinner With The Romano Duo

**THROWBACK POST**

May 28 2015

I’ve mentioned in the past that Lillian likes to email the authors of books she reads to let them know she liked the book. She’s also writing book recommendation posts on her blog and listing every book she reads!

She almost always gets a response, and I was moved by this latest response .. “Hi, Lillian,
So good to hear from you! Your website and posts are amazing! Good for you to read and write and to share your messages with the world.

I have a new book that just came out. It’s called BAYOU MAGIC. Before SUGAR I wrote NINTH WARD.

I love fairies and I love Salt Lake, too. I’ve been to Salt Lake twice.

Happy reading and thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely,
Jewell

The Soothing Medicine of Mother Nature With a Million Questions

February 16 2020:

Quick drive to Washoe Lake. Thank you Mother Nature for the soothing medicine. My entire body and soul relaxed deeply in your loving embrace.

It was a struggle to get Lillian to leave the house. It was a struggle to get her out of the car. I pray nature helped her, at least a little bit. Deeply grateful this beautiful lake is only about a 15 minute drive away. 🙏♥️♥️♥️🙏

February 20 2020:

Lillian left yesterday afternoon to spend a couple of days with The Romano Duo. A much needed break for both of us. Hope you’re having fun, Lillian!! 🎉🎉🎉

Thomas and I are just back from an hour long walk. Incredibly beautiful and peaceful …. Well, except for the million questions from Thomas.

From the moment he could talk he’s asked one question after another after another. He’s still at it. The questions have gotten harder to answer though!

When he was about 4 or 5 years old, my mom asked me how on Earth I answered all of his questions. I told her I just answered the most recent one. He literally used to ask a string of questions all at once! What a heart warming memory to have popped up! 💜💜💜

Much Needed Walk With Beautiful Sky Reflections

February 11 2020

A much needed walk this afternoon. Please continue sending the love, healing energy, and good juju to Lillian (and us) as I try to help her understand something. She’s never been in this space before and we are struggling. Deep gratitude. 🙏♥️♥️♥️🙏

Lillian and Camilla February 2020 Date Day

February 13 2020

Lillian and Camilla February 2020 Date Day

First stop was for fries to share, a butterfly cookie for Lillian, and giant vegan ginger cookie for me.

Second stop was a beautiful walk, with a final stop for a bit of window shopping. xoxo

I deeply appreciate all the love being sent Lillian’s (our) way. It may look like all is well in these photos. Yet, the struggle continues. Tomorrow will be one week out from me ruining her life (as she sees it), one week out from me making a decision in the best interest of her mental and physical safety. Things are definitely better than last Friday. Yet, it’s slow going.

Deeply proud of Thomas throughout this entire ordeal. A younger sibling who stepped into the role of an older sibling this past week. As much as I tried not to have the maddening aspect of this, along with the sadness of this situation leak out of my eyes and heart to him, it happened. And he comforted me. Thank you Thomas. I love you.
