**THROWBACK POST**

September 7 2009:

Stayed in Reno & took it easy this Labor Day Weekend.

Took Thomas & Lillian to the library on Saturday. They love the library!

Posing with her early Bday Present from my Mom & Frank!

Date Day with Lillian – Out to eat at one of her favorite places – The Olive Garden! (July 2021 Update – Ummmm …. Not anymore!! Once we began eating at locally owned places, we’ve become french fry experts, for local spots!)

Book Musings: Crossing Niagara

August 18 2018:

Crossing Niagara – The Death-Defying Tightrope Adventures of the Great Blondin

Exciting story of Jean Francois Gravelet, the one known as the Great Blondin. Mostly about his claim to fame of crossing Niagara Falls on a tightrope.

He not only crossed on a tightrope, he crossed on a tightrope blindfolded, reading the paper, with a wheelbarrow, on stilts, with his feet and hands chained, with his feet in buckets, and with a man on his back. Great person to learn about.

Library Day Brings Knowledge of Many Subjects

**THROWBACK POST**

December 30 2015:

Was taking Thomas’ library books out of the bag for him. Among the Andrew Lost, Boxcar Kids, guinea pig books, and tons of books with world records and interesting facts; there are these books. You go Thomas, you go! Seriously, I am so curious to see what he will do with all this knowledge as he progresses on his journey! xoxo

Book Musings: Philip Reid Saves the Statue of Freedom

February 3 2018:

Philip Reid Saves the Statue of Freedom

In the year 1859 the Statue of Freedom’s plaster model faced being broken unless a construction puzzle was solved. Philip Reid, a skilled and enslaved African American stepped forward and solved the puzzle.

In 1863, the Statue of Freedom was lifted to the top of the Capitol. Very interesting book! Had never heard this before and it was wonderful to learn about this amazing man!
