Take That First Step by Camilla Downs – Part One

January 15 2018:

Thomas and Camilla January 2017 Date Day Part 4 1.31.17 #6

Take that first step. Then, take the next step ….. xoxo

I recently read a post in a writing group from someone about envy arising in some members when it is announced that other members have achieved a published book! The writer of the post was not being unkind.

She simply wished to share why envy is not called for in this situation. While I don’t agree with the reason indicated, I do agree that it’s in our best interest to catch the feelings of envy and jealousy when they…

One Breath at a Time by Camilla Downs

December 13 2017:

One Breath at a Time

One breath at a time, dear one

You find yourself in a vast ocean of your own creation.
An ocean full of the humanness of life.

Joy, love, peace,
laughter, happiness, abundance,
beauty, compassion, kindness.
Fear, sadness, greed,
competition, judgements, shame,
guilt, jealousy, loneliness.

At times you feel as if you
are on the verge of drowning.

One’s arms and legs have become
heavy with the struggle of this
ocean swirling with humanness.

What is one to do?
There is no ….

Shining Star Bag by Camilla Downs

You can take
All the hearts
Nature puts forth

And put them
All in a bag
Made of stars
Wrapped in a
Bow of beautiful
Green grass.

But there’ll be
Days when no
Matter the beauty
No matter the love
No matter the
Depth of knowing
How the Light
Shines within.

There’ll be days
When a heaviness
Envelops and that
Shining star bag
Full of love ….

Those Who Challenge Us

**THROWBACK POST**

November 10 2015:

This morning I found myself sending an email message that began with this:

“My philosophy is that those who challenge us should be seen as welcome teachers to further our own growth. For this reason I am grateful for having these students ebb and flow into my life. They teach me as much or more than I teach them.”

My intuition immediately after sending this, coupled with the timing of beginning a conversation I’ve put off since July 2014, was that the timing was right to publish this post written just over a month ago ….. “How to Peacefully Experience Life’s Lessons” …

May it appear in front of the ones that will benefit from it. And, should you feel moved, I would be grateful for good thoughts and prayers that I remain at peace and in the present moment for this upcoming conversation. Oceans of gratitude to YOU! xoxo

I’ve Been a Crazy Wild One for Years – HA

**THROWBACK POST**

November 9 2012:

Just in case anybody else needs to know this …

This house has a built in sprinkler system and hanging in the garage is some type of long handle thingy that is supposed to be used to turn the sprinklers on and off. Well … I have found that this can also be used to unplug the shower drain!! Works perfect!

Unscrew the drain lid, stick the handle thingy in as far as it goes, twist it, pull it out with a gigantic ball of icky hair stuff and you’ve just unplugged the drain! YAY!! Mine happened to have chunks of glass too …. One of the glass shower panels mysteriously shattered this past week. Had fun taking a shower with my aqua sock shoes on this morning so I didn’t get tiny bits of glass in my feet!!!! There ya go!!

How Would I

**THROWBACK POST**

November 8 2012:

On this windy day, I am grateful for the storms of my life, the tough times, the trials that I chose and still choose to bring into my life.

If not for these times, how would I learn and grow? How would I have discovered my strength and courage?

If not for these times, I would not have awakened to my true authentic self and my purpose. How would I have learned to find peace and remain content no matter what? How would I learn that fears are just an illusion?

Without these times I would not become aware that there are still a few things I need to work on within myself. How would I have gotten to the point where I can stop right when the storm begins and say, “What am I to learn from this?”, know the answer, and calm the storm before it even begins … Hugs and smiles y’all!

Do You Listen to the Messages

November 27 2017:

I am supposed to write. I know this. I receive signs and messages constantly.

I received another sign on Friday when I received an email from one of the largest eastern spiritual blogs in the world asking me to write for them.

They discovered the post I wrote for elephant journal in March 2016 and loved what I wrote. It was the post that I wrote to Lillian’s meltdowns titled, “Dear Meltdown: Meet My Friend Mindfulness”.

The Broken Heart by Camilla Downs

Heart Shaped Rock - The Broken Heart 2017

And sometimes
It feels as if
The broken heart
Will never mend.

Lo, take heed.
The broken heart asdf
Lies patiently
in waiting.

For the glorious day
When compassion
And unconditional
Love return to
The broken-hearted.

For that glorious day
When all the the
Broken-hearted ….
