The Bad Batch – Star Wars

May 15 2021

Thomas Darnell and I started watching The Bad Batch last night! Sooooooooo good!!! We’re also watching Rebels (we’re in Season 2), and love how this ties in with that and The Clone Wars.

Thomas and I were picking up my “meatballs” and garlic knots when we saw that they had opened the lil game room. Pinball machines!! How do you get the ball going, Thomas asks. 😂🤣 I only had enough quarters for one game. And he did better than me! I’m rusty!

Oh, the hours spent playing pinball and other games when I was his age. In those days the game rooms were huge! Like the size of this entire restaurant.

Throwback Post: Inspired the Right Person at Just the Right Moment

**THROWBACK POST**

September 7 2015:

This post from 2013 appeared before me today. Not due to facebook’s “You have memories with …. ” notification …

Because one of Nikki’s beautiful daughter’s came across my blog post written in memory of her Mom back in 2013 which led her to my facebook profile which then led her to this post. To me this is a sign that this needed to be posted again. If you are urged to read it, here’s the blog post …

In Remembrance and Celebration of Nikki Jones Luinstra: A Never Forgotten Promise

If you read it, you will know why my eyes began to sweat like crazy after reading Marcy’s comment left on the blog …

“I believe your article has inspired the right person, at just the right moment. I’m her daughter, and i would love to talk to you!”

May this be exactly what you needed in this moment, for whatever reason. xoxoxo

Press One to Confirm

May 4 2021

No matter how many times you press “1” to confirm your appointment, it will NOT work if you are listening to the call on your voice mail. Seriously.

I got so frustrated that it wasn’t working, that I pressed “1” about 10 times in a row. It still wasn’t working. Then, my brain said, “Uh, you’re listening to a message. This isn’t the actual call.” …. It’s gonna be a great day! Wahooo! (photo from koolshooters on pexel)

Why Did I Become a Poet – Haiku Style Interview with Camilla

April 25 2021

I recently participated in a Haiku style interview with the wonderful Auroras & Blossoms Poetry Journal. My interview was included in the January – March 2021 issue, which you can find on Kindle.

1. Why did you decide to become a poet?

Accidental swan-
words flow from nature’s beauty
heart opened to verse

2. What is your favorite style of poetry? Why?

Not a fan of rules-
free-verse is the way for me
freedom in writing

3. Who are your favorite poets?

Nature influenced-
writing of Gaia’s beauty
favorite poets

The publication is full of wonderful, moving poetry. I hope you take the time to download an issue, supporting this great publication, and the poets and artists who contribute. Check it out here …

Poetry Reading by Camilla With Quenching the Heart’s Thirst

April 6 2021

This has been great. Wrapping up soon. A poetry reading with others in the UK, Canada, and me in Reno. ❤️🎉❤️

April 24 2021

And then I received an email this morning with this message (referencing my 1st book, D iz for Different – One Woman’s Journey to Acceptance) …

“Your decision to share your experiences and insights is truly a gift to the world. I have been having a synchronistic experience with your book. Sometimes, when I read it, I will move the bookmark to another spot in the book and then fail to replace it after I finish reading. The next time I go to read, the bookmark may be in a spot I have read before, but the words will be perfect for what is going on at that moment in time.” – Lisa

Lisa’s message landed on a thirsty heart. I’m thankful to those who quench the heart’s thirst just when it is needed most.

I don’t talk about this book much, as it’s about to receive a new cover, at which point I’ll re-launch with the new cover. Hopefully, in the next 1 – 3 months. (A very tired me, and a happy Lillian at a November 2019 book signing.)

Full of Imagination and Wonder – Where Would You Fly

And then there was this lovely surprise yesterday … Thank you to Helen of Pink Quill Books!! I appreciate YOU! xoxo

“My review for Where Would You Fly? & Other Magical Stories by Lillian Darnell, 5/5 stars.

The first line of the blurb for this book reads:

Welcome to the radiant imagination of Lillian Darnell, a wonderful and unique human being, the kind who comes around only once in every 56,000 births, as she is missing the short arm of her 18th chromosome.

I thought it was the perfect introduction to my review. Her stories are full of imagination and wonder, as you see the world through her eyes from age 4 (written with a little help from her mum, Camilla) to age 16. Some are gentle guides to mindfulness, others to how to be happy, and most are delightful stories with fairies, unicorns, and magic.

I have to admit I found the Emotions and Feelings part particularly touching, where Lillian explores her own emotions while growing up. Her condition, and her journey which led to the publication of this book, are explained in the introduction by Camilla, who is also a wonderful poet, and a beautiful person. Her dedication to Lillian, and her son Thomas, is evident through the stories Lillian has written and the love she has for her family.

Every now and then it’s lovely to get away from the real world and travel to distant lands with mythical beings. Lillian’s book is a wonderful distraction that you can dip into every now and then, and it will put a smile on your face. Many thanks to Camilla, Lillian and Thomas for the chance to read Where Would You Fly?”
