February 4 2018:

I received my copy of Lillian’s beautiful book and have enjoyed browsing through the many delightful stories. I love the immensely witty dialogue and the truly magical storylines, and I swear there is a bright light shining through each and every word. One of my favorites is “A Mindful Mermaid Story.” I think I’ll have to try doing some MM sometime. : ) And, I definitely also love my notebook!

I Am Grateful We Have Trash to Take Out

**THROWBACK POST**

December 9 2013:

The other day Thomas was complaining about having to take the garbage outside. He was still complaining when he asked for my help to tie the bag. I shared with him that there are things I really don’t want to do around the house ..

Like clean the toilet or anything having to do with the stuff that goes into a toilet. Shared that I think to myself, “I’m so grateful we have a toilet to use, a toilet that’s in a house that we get to live in.” I suggested he could say to himself as he’s taking out the trash, “I’m so grateful we have trash to take out. It means we have food to eat.” He said, “I like that! Thanks!”

I truly love the little lessons I get to give myself by having these two in my life! xoxo

Laughing Mindfulness Session

**THROWBACK POST**

December 7 2015:

Last night before I read to Lillian and Thomas we did a “laughing” mindfulness session together. This one is really easy. Everyone stands ….. and …. just starts laughing. At first the laughs are forced, yet it’s magical how the laughs become genuine belly laughs that you cannot stop once started.

I mentioned something about this activity distracting one from non-stop thoughts. We sat down to read a chapter in “Stillness Speaks” and just so happens to have been about how we spend most of our time “distracted” by our thoughts. After I had read a page, Thomas asked if I had read this before deciding to have the “laughing” session. I told him that I had not and that usually what we need to hear or see comes into our life when we are open to it. As there was also a section on boredom and Thomas had repeated several times during the day that he was bored.

I was moved to share two sections from the chapter we read with you. I just happened to be in need of this wonderful reminder too!

“If you can recognize, even occasionally, the thoughts that go through your mind as simply thoughts, if you can witness your own mental-emotional reactive patterns as they happen, then that dimension is already emerging in you as awareness in which thoughts and emotions happen – the timeless inner space in which the content of your life unfolds. The stream of thinking has enormous momentum that can easily drag you along with it.” and “When you feel bored, you can satisfy that by reading, texting, using a digital device, etc ….. Or you can stay bored and restless and observe what it feels like to be bored and restless. As you bring awareness to the feeling, there is suddenly some space and stillness around it.” – Stillness Speaks

I so love it when this happens for me, and I especially love it when it happens for our whole family. I am so blessed to have chosen the path to learn and practice mindfulness, meditation, and emotional connection … and to share and facilitate this for others. May this be helpful in some way for YOU, too! xoxo

Humane Society Volunteer Day with Thomas

February 1 2018:

Today was volunteer day for Thomas and I. After socializing with the cats, we cut sheets for use in the cat infirmary.

We did the cutting in a conference room and Thomas asked me twice why they had a Geiger counter. I finally asked him to point out what he was talking about. What do you think it was?**

It’s incredibly hard to cut sheets with regular paper cutting scissors. They really need a few pairs of fabric scissors. I feel like I mangled those sheets! Ha!

And look what I found under one of the sheets. I somehow cut a heart shape piece of fabric while mangling, I mean cutting, one of the sheets.

Love and Kindness and Laws – The Alchemist Theatre Sparked Conversations

The Moon After the Alchemist Theater Show 1.31.18

January 31 2018:

Oh so inspiring Alchemist Theatre tonight!! Missed you dearly Jessica Levity Daylover!!! Yet, hallelujah!!! For being Brave!!! Alchemist Theatre presents “Fear”

That closing song did it for me! KAPOW!!! I will survive!! Oh my gosh Carolyn R Smith!!! You serenaded my soul!

Denise Sheehan ….. Beautiful, sweet, and delicious alchemy shamama meditation! How amazing that one of my supporting themes of 2018 was a part of it!! Wahooo!!!

And. To seal the evening. Check out sister moon framed by this amazing, gorgeous, and handsome tree!!!

Thomas and I had inspiring and enlightening conversation during the drive there and back home … About love and kindness and laws and people who commit crimes. Amazing! Can you tell I’m a wee bit pumped! Ha!

Ending song sung by the sizzling Carolyn:

Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive

“At first, I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong and I learned how to get along

And so you’re back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I’d have known for just one second you’d be back to bother me

Go on now go, walk out the door, just turn around now
’cause you’re not welcome anymore
Weren’t you’re the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye?
You think I’d crumble? You think I’d lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I, I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love, I know I’m still alive
I’ve got my life to live, and I’ve got all my love to give
And I’ll survive, I, I , I will survive

It took all my strength not to fall apart
Trying with all my mind to mend my broken heart
I spent, so many nights feeling sorry for myself

Oh, I used to cry but now I hold my head up high
And you see me, somebody new
Not that lonely little person still in love with you
Now you come dropping in expecting me to be free
Now I’m saving all my loving for someone who’s loving me

Go on go, walk out the door, turn around now
You’re not welcome anymore
You’re the one, who tried to hurt me with goodbye?
Did you think I’d crumble? Did you think I’d lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I, I will survive
Long as I know how to love, I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got my life to live, and all my love to give
And I’ll survive, I, I , I will survive
Go on go, walk out the door, turn around now
You’re not welcome anymore
You’re the one, who tried to hurt me with goodbye?
Did you think I’d crumble? Did you think I’d lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I, I will survive
Long as I know how to love, I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got my life to live, and all my love to give
And I’ll survive, I, I , I will survive”

I love this song!! It used to be about a broken relationship. Yet, not anymore. It’s about the ego and psyche for me these days. Much love to you! xoxo
