Book Musings: The Librarian Who Measured the Earth

The Librarian Who Measured the Earth

Wonderfully illustrated story of Eratosthenes who was born more than two thousand years ago. He was full of wonder and questions. Wherever he went and whatever he did, his curiosity and questions sent him from one discovery to the next.

His measurement of the circumference of the Earth was only two hundred miles different from our own calculations today. Great story about a man who always let his curiosity lead the way.

Movie Night: Star Wars II – Attack of the Clones

March 16 2019:

Team TLC movie night – Thomas’ choice: Star Wars II – Attack of the Clones

Thomas says, “It was good. I liked it and the music is good.”

I say, “This has been my least favorite so far. Although, it was okay. And had some cool scenes and aha moments of pulling things together.”

Lillian sat this one out.

Letting the Laughter In and Wild Blueberry Hearts and Virginia City Fun

March 15 2019:

Last night the three of us laughed and laughed together. We each took an online quiz to determine our archetype. Mine and Lillian’s were pretty spot on.

Yet, Thomas’ results had us laughing, laughing, laughing. That felt so very good. We haven’t all three laughed together in a long time. Laughter is good medicine. Especially when done alongside those you love mostest. Here’s to silliness. Here’s to laughter. Here’s hoping you let laughter in … as often as possible .. Towanda … (Photo of Thomas on one of our 2015 walks)

March 16 2019:

Thawed and warmed frozen wild blueberries and they left a bit of love behind in the pan. Lovely blueberry stained heart shapes ….

March 16 2019:

Aunt Debbie is up from Mississippi visiting The Romano Duo. She always has to visit Virginia City when in the area.

Lillian and I went for a bit to listen to The Comstock Cowboys with them. And I got treated to a really yummy virgin Bloody Mary. Yum!! Thank you Aunt Debbie and Mom n Frank. ❤️❤️❤️

Movie Night: Bohemian Rhapsody

March 15 2019:

Movie night for me tonight – “Bohemian Rhapsody” … I put this on hold months ago ..

I am so moved and pumped I don’t even know what to say. But, holy sh**. Maybe shouldn’t have watched just before bed. I feel like running out the door right now and doing everything I’ve ever imagined I wanted to do. Oh my gosh!! Loved, loved, loved. My heart is still pounding.

I didn’t think I would like it. Honestly, I was not a huge Queen fan. So I sat to watch it being a bit skeptical. Well. Here I am the next morning. I got hardly any sleep because I was so pumped after watching it. I’m a Queen fan now. Powerful. Not only that. A True story. A true powerful.

I rarely have a strong feeling that I want to buy a movie so I can keep it’s message close. I didn’t even want to take this out of the dvd player. After I did, I was thinking, I must buy this movie.

Frozen in Time …. For a Moment

March 14 2019:

As I swiftly walked by the fountain this morning, I was stopped in my tracks. Nature is the most incredible artist. The beauty of these leaves suspended and frozen for a moment in time, captured my heart. And … I did spot a heart shaped leaf. Beautiful!!

I mean. Just had to give the heart shaped leaf it’s own post. The lil frozen bubbles, the green leaf down below, the frozen ripples, sections partially free from the frozen water. Ahhhhh ….

Book Musings: Fire in the Heart – A Spiritual Guide for Teens

Fire in the Heart – A Spiritual Guide for Teens –

I listened to the audio version of this book with Thomas and Lillian about seven years ago. I’m not one to let books written for specific age groups deter me! HA!

I remembered loving this book back then. Recently, I had been having the urge to experience it again. I’m hoping Thomas and Lillian decide to read it also.

A non-fiction story of an elder man, Baba, whom Chopra encountered when he was 15 years old. Chopra shares, in his beautiful writing style, the lessons he learned from Baba.
