A Philosophy of Walking by Camilla Downs

A Philosophy of Walking

And she walked.
And she walked.
She walked until
Arriving at
The home of
Peace and Joy.
Discovering once there,
She had been
Here all along.

I went for an hour long walk this morning. My body and mind did not want to go. I went anyway.

Just as a cool glass of water slakes my thirst on a scorching hot day, going for walks quenches the thirst of my soul and heart to know my true self, to heal, to release, to allow joy, and to be at peace. Walking guides me in the loving way to process life, to fulfill life, and to let life be.

For the past 18 years I have been going for walks. The meaning and depth of the walks have ….

I Did a Thing – Camilla Replaced Headlight Bulbs

March 7 2019:

I did a thing this afternoon. Replaced both headlight bulbs in our car, Rosey. I’ve never done that before and couldn’t contain my excitement afterwards.

Jumped up and down screaming “Wahoo! I did it!!”, and did a little victory dance! May we all remember to celebrate the little things!

Now, if I could just figure out how to fix an oil leak and the overheating issue ….. we’d be set!!

We Are Surrounded By Good

**THROWBACK POST**

May 2 2014:

I awoke this morning with a heart open to all the good that surrounds me. After our love and hug conversation at breakfast we left to take Thomas and Lillian to school. I decided I was gonna listen to some music on the way. Turned on the radio and “Best Day of My Life” was playing … Blow my mind!! Then happy, fun songs one right after another! Dropped Lillian off and told her to have fun having the best day of her life. Dropped Thomas off and told him to have the time of his life sharing love.

At the grocery store a lovely grandfatherly gentlemen stopped me on the aisle and said “That’s a very special dress you have on.” I told him “Thank you …… And so are YOU!” Beautiful sweet man was speechless.

Last stop was the bank to get a cashier’s check. The teller asked me if I wanted to withdraw any money from my account. I told her no, unless it was coming from somewhere else … with a smile and a giggle. After a few seconds checked my phone for texts and I had a text that I’d received money deposited into another account … that I did not know was coming … Without knowing it I said something out loud and she asked if I had a question. I said “No, I really did just receive money. Ask and you shall receive!” My eyes almost sweated right there in the bank!

Then, after Thomas’ vaulting lessons tonight Team TLC stopped at little Washoe Lake for some rock throwing and skipping! I love LOVE! Best Day Of My Life Indeed! Plan on having another tomorrow! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

The Secret of Saying Thanks

“Perhaps you’d like to know a secret, one of the happiest ones of all. You will surely find it for yourself one day. You’ll discover it all on your own, maybe when you least expect it.”

Wonderful book about the secret of having gratitude and expressing gratitude.

We have enjoyed all of Douglas Wood’s books!

How Writing Helps Me With Parenting by Camilla Downs

How Writing Helps Me With Parenting

Writing has been a sanity saving bridge which has led from processing parenting experiences to peace and solutions. Single parenting two children led me on a journey for which I have no map. Through writing, I create the map as I travel this wild and wonderful parenting safari.

My parenting journey has included many life lessons disguised as sinkholes, road blocks, and dead ends. My daughter, Lillian, was diagnosed at age 3 years old with a …
