A Friendly Gargoyle and a Friendly Polka Dot Monster and a Reiki Fairy

**THROWBACK POST**

September 24 2013:

Team TLC dinner conversation tonight …

Thomas has a friendly gargoyle that visits him every morning at 4:59. They talk for an hour or shoot paper hoops. He tells me this after he asked what a gargoyle is and if they can be friendly. Told him they can be friendly if he wants them to be!

Lillian has a friendly polka dot monster that visits her. Her nickname is Lila. Her real name is Apprehension and they go to fairy land together. She taught Lillian how to make animal noises and is teaching Lillian to fly too!

Oh, and Lillian says she saw me last night in Fairy Land turning in my paperwork to be a Reiki Fairy! HA! I’m so thankful these two beautiful souls add to our interesting and fun life!! xoxo

Catch and Release House and Hurricane Harvey

September 2 2017:

I think word is getting out that this is a catch and release house. Moths, flies, and itty bitty spiders in the house, bees on the patio (we head back inside and let them hang out) and for two days in a row, a frog. I think it’s some type of tree frog or something similar.

Yesterday morning there was one in the bathtub and tonight there was one happily jumping across the living room floor after our movie. I just can’t figure out how the frogs are getting inside.

I’ve looked up the acronym for frog and frog animal wisdom. Okay. I get the message. You can stop sending frogs …. HA! xoxoxo

Post-Hurricane Harvey I connected my ex-Reno-ite-friend-now-living-in-Houston, Kimberly Phipps Nichol, with my Houston area friend Dawn Mitchell to help out one of Dawn’s friends in Houston.

More fun reading for Thomas. He reads the more typical books too. Yet, he has a wide net of interests for which he wants learn more about.

He has pretty much read every “young people’s” fiction book at the South Valleys Library (that he has an interest in reading). xoxo

Keep up your prayers and support for her family and the thousands others here who are mucking out and starting over. They need all the uplifting vibes they can get.”

Volunteering at the Library and Humane Society

September 7 2017:

First day volunteering at our home away from home! Thomas took a picture as we were leaving and we had Mary take a picture of us with our official badges!

Our library tour was easy since we already know everyone there and we already know the library layout having been going two or three times per month for the past ten years.

Lillian enjoyed getting to see behind the counter where the books are returned and where all the behind the scenes action takes place. We will be there every Wednesday from 2-4.

I may be a tad more excited than Lillian! Ha!!! I am truly inspired by the written word. xoxoxo

Thomas’ turn now! He wants to volunteer at the Nevada Humane Society working with cats and small animals. Orientation set for October 1st! He’s very excited!

Here’s a picture of Cinamon who was with me for 18 years (from the time she was a wee tiny one). Thomas got to have about five years with her before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2010. xoxoxo

Fun Memories and Coding

August 27 2017:

Mr. Morlock (Dehron Foster) – Remember this? I have a little stash of items I’ve kept from my time living in Houma. Fun memories!

Found more treasures in my Houma stash! As of 1983, in the 127 years since the first Comus parade, there had been thirteen years when festivities were canceled.

Eclipse and Staying Here and Jello Bed and Tent Bedroom and Field Trip

August 21 2017:

So beautiful, peaceful, and incredibly quiet. Got a great picture of …. nothing, really …. Ha! My attempt at taking a photo through Lillian’s eclipse glasses while also wearing my eclipse glasses. xoxoxo

August 24 2017:

Has anyone tried moving a queen size tempurpedic bed? It’s like wrestling with and trying to move a 200 pound block of jello … with handles. Oh my gosh!

Due to the decision below, I wanted to give Thomas his own space. So we spent four hours after dinner last night moving and shifting packed boxes and other furniture so that he could have his own “room”. It’s a room within a room! Thomas and I had a heck of a time moving my queen bed out so we could put up the tent for him.

I made a decision yesterday afternoon after receiving news yesterday morning that would allow us to stay where we are. I canceled the moving truck for last night and the storage unit. Since the unit we’re in now had not been rented yet, the office was okay with me saying, “Oops! Never mind!” They have been great.

Staying here is the path of least resistance and that suits me.

It’s clear the time has not yet arrived for us to leave this place. Every “perceived option” did not work out and there were many dead ends. Thirty – forty people all trying to get one place, waiting lists, difficulties finding a reasonably priced storage unit, no u-haul trucks of ANY size, anywhere near Reno, beginning today and through 9.3 due to Burning Man.

So, we’ll stay here and hopefully move into a different unit at some point; being that we’re all packed and ready to go somewhere! And, we will begin preparing more solidly for the next adventure for Team TLC. I’ll share more later as it’s been a wild ride for sure.

There must be a reason for us staying here. I will simply trust that it will be revealed in time.

Field trip day!!! Drove to Incline Village Library. This library and South Valleys library are our two favorites!

Bonus Farmers Market set up when came out. Fresh tomatoes, Concord grapes, peaches, and nectarines. Yum!!!

Another bonus! The amazing views on the drive back down Mt. Rose. WOW!!!

Confidence and Clarity and Peace and Knowing and Blanket Fort and Son Soulmate

August 15 2017:

I just pondered aloud, not expecting an answer; a question of curiosity as Lillian had just spotted a bee … “I wonder how one can tell if a bee is male or female?” …… Thomas surprised me and answers the question with confidence and clarity. Okay then!! I kinda really like him.

*******************

Just returned from a drive to Carson City for an appointment. Driving back I was struck with the incredible beauty of this glorious Earth and was overcome with feelings of peace and knowing that all is going to be okay.

I’ve got to make a decision by end of day today and this moment was perfect. Incredibly grateful and I’ll have more please … xoxoxo

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious … !!!!!

Lillian was having a meltdown …. So I said this … Kinda leaves one speechless in the middle of a meltdown … HA! Then I played Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews singing it … Perfect!

Lyrics
It’s Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You’ll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Because I was afraid to speak
When I was just a lad
Me father gave me nose a tweak
And told me I was bad
But then one day I learned a word
That saved me aching nose
The biggest word you ever heard
And this is how it goes
Oh, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You’ll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
He traveled all around the world and everywhere he went
He’d use his word and all would say there goes a clever gent
When dukes and Maharajahs pass the time of day with me
I say my special word and then they ask me out to tea
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You’ll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
So when the cat has got your tongue
There’s no need for dismay
Just summon up this word
And then you’ve got a lot to say
But better use it carefully
Or it can change your life
For example
Yes?
One night I said it to me girl and now me girls my wife
Oh! And a lovely thing she is too. he he he
She’s Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

When you just can’t make sense of everything not going the way you think you want it to go, and the amazing one that is your son had a huge disappointment along with you today ….

You help him make a room for himself. The tent is too big, so …. Fort style using binder clips and push pinning to the wall amongst packed boxes and other stuff. So grateful I could bring some comfort to him …. xoxoxo

The ways in which he blesses me ….. I cannot even count the ways …. I have a few of these books around the house. Yet, he likes to check out the library copy. He has read this book over 20 times, I’m sure.

Note to self for future books: Be ready to be questioned about ones writings and have the content presented back to one when one least expects it. My son soulmate … xoxoxo

Smashing A Brick and Purging and Catalyst

August 8 2017:

Thomas finally decided it was time to smash his brick. We each received one at the May Alchemist Theatre event.

We were to imprint a word or words onto it to represent what we wanted to release. Thomas slept with his for a while because he said it had good energy!

It is done. And, so it is! Go Thomas!

August 10 2017:

Thomas and I just got done taking the Queen sleigh bed frame apart … in a confined space with a heavy tempurpedic mattress and boxsprings that had to be moved first! (I did it Frank C. Romano Jr!!) That thing is so incredibly heavy. My forearms are shaking! HA!

Thank you Marilee for suggesting Consign Furniture Now! They will pick it up next Wednesday along with two antique end tables. Wahoo!!!! I’m so hap, hap, happy!! Feel like I just lost a ton of weight! 😉

One bike gone, the free standing mirror gone, bed frame gone, end tables gone, one full load to the thrift store …. And there’s more. Three kitchen table chairs are going and three small bookcases. Wahoooo!!

Queen Sleigh Bed August 2016 #2

August 12 2017:

Mostly packed. Storage unit and moving truck reserved to get all heavy and big stuff on Thursday.

We’ll camp out here until Saturday, the 19th, and get the rest of the items packed. Last day here is supposed to be Saturday the 19th. Destination: Unknown. Isn’t there a song kinda like this? xoxoxo

Do I jump? Do I retract? Do I play it safe? What if, what if, what if? What about this? What about that? What WILL we do? Where will we sleep? My psyche is making me crazy!

I feel safe and comfortable where we are and a huge piece of me doesn’t want to let that go and is holding on for dear life. My true self and awareness stands back and observes the non-sense and drama created by the psyche … This is so not fun. Yet, will be the catalyst for something good …. xoxoxoxo

**Update** A few days before we moved out, I decided that we would stay here. It appears the time has not arrived yet for us to move on. Too many people trying to get one rental place when it’s available, waiting lists, hard to find storage units, no moving trucks available due to Burning Man … For whatever reason we are meant to stay put for a bit longer … And, we’re totally okay with that!!

Packing and S’mores and Accidental Photo

July 30 2017:

Packing, packing, packing …. Relieved that we have downsized so much, we’re finding it difficult to fill boxes we’ve started. So far I have about four bags to donate and about 30 books too!

The past few days have been a mixture of packing, peace, harmony, arguing, and rubbing one another’s thorns. Like riding a roller coaster that runs through a zen garden, a fun house, a garden of love, and a mad house. Whew! xoxoxoxo

When it comes down to it, there’s not a whole lot that is essential. I am incredibly grateful that I have learned how to release the need to have and keep things.

I have a shadow box with a beach scene with a lighthouse and small cabin. I have kept if for years and years as a reminder that I want to experience that some day. I took it off the bathroom wall and put it in a box.

Two days later, I decided that I was done looking at this representation of what I want to experience and am ready to pass it on. I think it’s more likely I’ll experience the real thing without it … And, it’s truly okay if I never experience it.
