Lillian on July 2015 Date Day w book from grassroots 7.15.15

Then home for dinner. Afterwards we went to Virginia Foothills park. Went for a walk, and I read them the nighttime book there while the sun set. It was so beautiful. LOVED it. So peaceful and inspiring. Just filled me up. It simply felt magical walking around the field the last time by myself. so quiet. So still. Really felt one with the trees and the birds, bushes and flowers.

March 2012 Date Day with Lillian

Our day began with me speaking at The Atlantis. That was a treat for Lillian … attending a luncheon and getting to eat corned beef. She was a bit overwhelmed by all of the attention, but she enjoyed herself. Started getting a bit bored near the end. She was a trooper though.

We came home for a bit before heading to tour a potential school for Thomas and Lillian for next year … High Desert Montessori in Sparks. We both loved the school.

I really like the Montessori teaching method. It’s an individualized education, non-traditional grading system, NO HOMEWORK, academics are taught by having the children determine how to find the answers {instead of giving them facts from a book and then testing them on it}, teaching them about real life and how what they are learning relates to real life, mixing the grade levels so if they are behind in one area they can keep doing it til mastered and if they are ahead they can move forward … What a CONCEPT!!!!!! I think it’s as close to homeschooling as you can get; without it actually being homeschooling! They have pets in each class that the kids take care of. They teach them how to plant and grow a garden, how to be self-sufficient and how to work together. I toured the private Montessori school last week and yesterday’s tour was the public charter school. I actually liked the public one better – it seems to be a better fit for Lillian. Lillian liked it too!!! Next step is to meet with the Vice Principal and discuss all my concerns regarding Lillian. We are on our way to being registered!!! Since they are a public school they absorb the IEP she already had. I told them I don’t want any therapies. I just want to keep the private therapies in place and she will just leave school early on Tuesdays to go to her therapies.

Then it was off to Great Basin Brewery for our favorite …. Garlic Fries!! I ordered a salad, a $1 slice of pizza and a happy hour mug of Jackpot Porter to wash it down!

Lillian and I had fun creating wedding dresses using one of her iPhone apps.

February 2012 Date Day with Lillian

Thomas hung out with Momma and Frank so Lillian and I could have our date day before she took off for Vegas!!

We headed to one of our favorite places for a lunch date! Great Basin Brewery! Lillian and I LOVE the garlic fries. These fries are loaded with garlic pieces. Just can’t get enough of em. I love the Great Basin beers!! The dark beers are my favorite! So far my favorite for lunch is the slice of  pizza and salad. Their slice of pizza is actually two slices for me, so I take half home and have it for dinner!

Garlic fries and a Russian Imperial Stout!

Lillian still has Christmas money so next it was book shopping at the thrift store! This girl bought eleven books! She LOVES her books. Also found a few cool shirts and one very very cool blue skirt!

It was a perfect date day! –Camilla

January 2012 Lillian Date Day

Today was date day with my beautiful little Lillian. After we ran some errands we visited a thrift store to book shop. Lillian LOVES books and had some money of her own to spend on books. She bought four books and spent five dollars. I found a book I’ve been wanting to read and we bought a cool question book for Thomas. Thomas asks tons of questions . . . many times I don’t know the answer so I love getting these books for him.

Then Lillian and I had a lunch date at Great Basin Brewery. Lillian had her favorite, garlic fries, and I had the lunch special . . . a slice of pizza with salad. Oh man, this pizza was good!! Chunks of garlic all over it! Mmmmmmmm. It was actually one HUGE slice that I cut into two slices. Had the other piece for dinner tonight. Lillian had her garlic fries for dinner too. Poor Thomas! We reek of garlic!

Another successful date day. These little dates mean the world to me and I can sense they mean a darn great deal to Thomas and Lillian too!

January 2012 Date Day with Thomas

Thomas and I went on a date while Lillian was having her therapies (ST, OT and PT). Mr. T had some Christmas money to spend and wanted to buy a Lego set.

Went to Toys r Us and headed straight for the Lego section. Thomas found MANY sets he wanted and other things after he got done looking at the Lego section. I collected a few that were right around $20 for him to decide. He was having such a hard time so I thought maybe if I went and found two Lego sets that still kept him within his budget he might like that. SCORE! That was it. I found several to give him a choice from and he was so relieved that I helped him with his problem. He chose the LEGO Creator Blue Roadster 6913 (amazon affiliate link) and the Lego Tiny Turbo 8302 Rod Rider (amazon affiliate link).

After that we went to Sonic and each got one of the $1 Vanilla Cones. Perfect ending to a perfect date with Team Member T! I ♥♥♥♥♥ that little boy!
