Grounding in the Beauty of Nature

May 28 2019:

It’s been too many days without a walk. Finally. And since it’s been several days, I stood in this spot, under this tree, with this view. I removed my shoes and let my bare feet touch, skin to earth. I bent down and touched the ground with my fingertips. Grounding. Natures cure for whatever ails. Thank you Mama Nature. 🙏💚💙💚💙💚💙🙏

May 28 2019:

Couldn’t help myself.

Went for another walk after visiting Jack & Mittens, the two cats I care for when their human is out of town.

It was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Ahhhhh …

May 31 2019:

Deeply grateful to Mother Nature for the beauty during the long walk today.

And deeply grateful to the young man sitting in the shade with his guitar playing and singing The Beatles She Loves You.

I wanted to take a photo. I wanted to tell him thank you. I wanted to stand and listen (and dance). Yet, I didn’t want to interrupt the zone. It brought pools of liquid love and gratitude to my eyes as I continued walking and taking it in.

Keep doing what you’re doing young man. Keep doing it. And, I thank you! 🙏💞💞💞🙏

Lillian Darnell Senior Graduation Photographs and Online Celebration

May 29 2019:

First round of senior/graduation photos for Lillian. She’s wants photos at a different location too! Ha!

This was the perfect spot for the first set. The little garden behind the library. We’ve been coming here ever since she was 5 years old.

I’ve taken tons of photos of the three of us in this little garden throughout the past 12 years. 🙏🎉💗💗💗🎉🙏

Book Musings: Uncommon Traveler – Mary Kingsley in Africa

Uncommon Traveler – Mary Kingsley in Africa

Incredible story of Mary Kingsley who was born in England in 1862. Although Mary remembers her childhood fondly, by most standards, her childhood was sad and bleak.

She never attended school, yet she loved books and learning so she taught herself. This book covers her two trips to West Africa in 1893 and 1894. Her travels added to the knowledge of West Africa and most people were astonished merely by her survival.

Wonderful woman and book!

Movie Night: Castle in the Sky

May 25 2019:

Team TLC movie night – Lillian’s choice: “Castle in the Sky”

Lillian says, “Good, liked the music, and the ending song, my favorite character is Sheeta, like how colorful it is, suspenseful, 100% recommend, and liked the story.”

I say, “I really enjoy Studio Ghibli movies. A beautiful tale full of mystery and adventure that highlights the importance of nature; rooted in a solid foundation of love as the true meaning of life. Loved it! Plus, Mark Hamill voices one of the characters – Muska! Side note: Although I loved it, I’m not a fan of all the violence.  ”💜💜💜

Thomas sat this one out.

If you enjoy and appreciate the movie suggestions I share, and are moved to do so, I’d be deeply grateful if you’d buy me a coffee!! Thank you oceans and oceans … –Camilla

Buy Me A Coffee

Breathe In and Breathe Out and Feel It by Camilla Downs

May 25 2019:

Written in response to a call for an essay about gratitude … Sent on wings of appreciation and love … With a photo of Nature’s Beauty …

I had a decision to make. I could continue to be stuck in a place of self pity, of feeling like I’m not one of the chosen who gets to have a peaceful, abundant, and joyful life. By no means was this an easy decision to make. I struggled on and off for more than 20 years with a core belief that people like me do not get to have an easy,…

Lillian and Camilla May 2019 Date Day

May 24 2019:

Lillian and Camilla May 2019 Date Day

First stop was to pick up the printed graduation announcements.

Second stop – Fries and a bright and beautiful shortbread cookie for Lillian. Crispy cauliflower with a siracha aioli sauce and a vegan oatmeal coconut raisin cookie for me. The cauliflower was amazing. So incredibly good and perfect amount of spiciness in the sauce. 🧡🧡🧡

Last stop – Craft store for sparkly things to embellish the graduation announcements. Lillian still has Christmas money so she picked out a shiny pencil case she’s had her eye on to use for traveling with her colored pencils.

Library Volunteer Day for Lillian

May 22 2019:

Wednesday = Library volunteer day. We always pull the holds and sometimes shelve books or anything else they need help with. Oh … And a few books we’d like to read may or may not get slipped onto the cart also! Ha! Going on 2 years now. 📚🧡🧡🧡📚
