Warm Electrifying Beauty Makes Me Feel Like Dancing

April 27 2020

Afternoon walk for me, bike ride for Thomas. Getting too warm for afternoon walks. Time to switch to morning or early evening.

New to me walk this afternoon – Scripts Wildlife Preserve –

The beauty is electrifying. I keep wanting to use the word, giddy. So, there you go. I’ve now used it. Every time I get home from one of these walks, I feel like dancing. I put on music and dance while making dinner.

Thomas and Camilla November 2017 Date Day

Thomas and Camilla November 2017 Date Day –

First stop: Washoe Lake. I’ve only been here maybe two other times with no wind. How gloriously beautiful.

I truly needed a deep dose of Mama Gaia today and this was perfect for grounding and processing.

Thomas walked barefoot and dug in the sand. It was perfect for him too. He and Lillian had a huge argument as we were readying to leave.

I sat down, took off my shoes and socks, and slowly buried my feet and hands in the soft, cool sand. I was instantly relaxed and brought into this wonderful moment with Thomas. It’s difficult to even find the words to describe.

Last stop: Ice Cream!! Vegan Coconut Mint and Just Nog for Thomas and Vegan Coconut Mint and Just Chocolate for me! Of all the flavors I’ve ever tasted here, the Coconut Mint tops the list now! Love the texture and flavor – tastes like a Jr Mint candy, only better! We ate our ice cream with the amazing view at Audrey Harris Park.

Thomas also had a half sandwich and I had a cup of potato salad and macaroni salad.

He dragged this huge tree limb into the lake and it was his boat for about an hour. It was beautiful watching him sail his boat to the middle of the lake. Love, love, love. Sunset and Waves and Water and Breeze and Pelicans and Cormorants and Chipmunk and Tree

July 2 2017:

Sunset walk at Washoe Lake tonight. Wow! There’s no beach. Just WOW!

As we were driving I mentioned how badly I wanted to take them to an ocean beach. What a surprise when we arrived! Wave after wave just like an ocean beach! It felt absolutely incredible.

Thank you SO much. And bring us more please.

The morning of July 4th brought the return of the pelicans and their wisdom to the little lake.

Good reminders on this Independence Day … Freedom from the ego, letting emotions float through, and the ability to return from extinction. Wonderful …. xoxo ….

Cormorant wisdom visited too! I just adore these creatures. They are so graceful. Cormorants brought wisdom of patience and use of the sun as a healing agent. xoxo

July 5 2017:

Took my morning walk in the forest this time. After dropping Thomas at camp, had some me time.

Oh my yummy! Plus, that’s some darn ice cold water! My feet were resisting after I initially plunged them into it.

This is the kind of walk that lets you know just how out of shape ones body has gotten. Lots of chipmunk wisdom reminding me that I have the ability to see the light and the shadows, the ability to carry spiritual nourishment with me, and I have mobility.

Incredibly grateful to Mother Nature. What a blessing. Spent a few minutes with the amazing tree near the end of the pictures. Mr. Tree gracefully soaked in and transmuted some unlovely feelings. Whew!!!

Now for a quick swim with Lillian before a busy busy rest of the day.

Walking by Camilla Downs

Thomas at Little Washoe Lake September 2016 #1

Walks of clarity
Walks of peace
Walking for no reason
Walking to get no where
This is the walking
Of which I speak and write.
These are the walks
That become what
One most needs
In the moment.
The walking becomes
The teacher and
Nature the classroom. -2016 Camilla Downs – Author, Lessons from Nature

January 19 2012 – Washoe Valley Brush Fire

Finished the final edits of my book, “D iz for Different – One Woman’s Journey to Acceptance” and sent out to some test readers today! Shooting for having it in hand by my birthday on February 26th!

A wildfire in Washoe Valley took up the rest of our afternoon and early evening. It moved quickly up 395 North headed our direction. Seems to have stopped just short of our area. Both Thomas and Lillian were pretty freaked out. They happen to be looking out the sliding glass door right before we were headed out to run an errand. They both kept saying there was a fire and I kept telling them it was just dust from the wind blowing so hard. I finally realized it was a fire when I smelled the smoke.

We left to run our errand and passed police vehicles and buses that were headed to Damonte Ranch High School. The emergency alert announcements were playing on the radio and this heightened Thomas and Lillian’s worries. The upside and downside of having technology savvy kids; they were both on their devices looking up information about it and getting more freaked out! At least I know they’ll know what to do in an emergency.

I had the news on for a while on the one news channel we get as I don’t pay for any cable or satellite services. Had to turn it off as Thomas was glued to it. Little dude had his coat on, his favorite toy and had already looked online and found us a place to stay for $29! And it didn’t help when we could see the flames nearing Mt Rose Hwy!

They had both finally calmed down by bedtime. Thank Goodness! Before bed I read The Twelve Days of Christmas in Florida (Twelve Days of Christmas, State By State) (amazon affilate link) with Thomas. Fun book. Thomas read the book and he actually sang the book to the traditional “12 Days” tune. Then I read Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear? (amazon affiliate link) with Lillian. Warm and cozy book. Just right for a bedtime book.
