“Finally read your book – you are such an inspiration. It is my prayer lives will be touched, people will be changed, hearts will be softened, kids will be raised to their full potential, parents will be encouraged, loads lightened, and joy embraced through your inspiring story and advice and direction. You truly are making a difference. You share so freely, may blessings come back many fold!” – Terry Vasenden, Reno, Nevada
I just pondered aloud, not expecting an answer; a question of curiosity as Lillian had just spotted a bee … “I wonder how one can tell if a bee is male or female?” …… Thomas surprised me and answers the question with confidence and clarity. Okay then!! I kinda really like him.

Just returned from a drive to Carson City for an appointment. Driving back I was struck with the incredible beauty of this glorious Earth and was overcome with feelings of peace and knowing that all is going to be okay.
I’ve got to make a decision by end of day today and this moment was perfect. Incredibly grateful and I’ll have more please … xoxoxo

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious … !!!!!
Lillian was having a meltdown …. So I said this … Kinda leaves one speechless in the middle of a meltdown … HA! Then I played Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews singing it … Perfect!
When you just can’t make sense of everything not going the way you think you want it to go, and the amazing one that is your son had a huge disappointment along with you today ….
You help him make a room for himself. The tent is too big, so …. Fort style using binder clips and push pinning to the wall amongst packed boxes and other stuff. So grateful I could bring some comfort to him …. xoxoxo
August 19 2017:
The ways in which he blesses me ….. I cannot even count the ways …. I have a few of these books around the house. Yet, he likes to check out the library copy. He has read this book over 20 times, I’m sure.
Note to self for future books: Be ready to be questioned about ones writings and have the content presented back to one when one least expects it. My son soulmate … xoxoxo
Hope and Guidance to Parents of Children with Special Needs: Interview with Camilla Downs Thank you so much for introducing your book, D iz for Different: One Woman’s Journey to Acceptance in a guest post for our Special Needs Book Review site! An unexpected and wonderful side effect of Thomas’ book, Biggest Little Photographer, is renewed interest in my book published in 2012, D iz for Different. It was a great day to mail one to California. YaY!!!
February 8 2017:
Got a new order of books! Now’s the time to get your copy if you’ve been meaning to order!
…. Plus, Biggest Little Photographer coming soon to The Wilbur May Center Gift Shop …. The order was placed this morning to coincide with the awesome Biggest Little Photographer exhibit currently being created for the Rancho San Rafael Visitor Center.
The Visitor Center will also host Thomas and I for a few public discussions about the book as the exhibit will run through April 2017. Plus, plus a private discussion about the book for children at The Children’s Cabinet. And perhaps planning a way for books to be donated to Children’s Cabinet too! Wonderful and heartwarming ….. xoxo

I was drawn to watch this short 3 minute video just now. Although I have moved on from some of the roles and advocacy from this time in my life, this served as a reminder for me in this moment.
I CAN do anything I decide and choose I’m going to do ….. AND …. so can YOU! And it will be a success as long as we do it from love and with love. LOVE will free us all … xoxo
A wildfire in Washoe Valley took up the rest of our afternoon and early evening. It moved quickly up 395 North headed our direction. Seems to have stopped just short of our area. Both Thomas and Lillian were pretty freaked out. They happen to be looking out the sliding glass door right before we were headed out to run an errand. They both kept saying there was a fire and I kept telling them it was just dust from the wind blowing so hard. I finally realized it was a fire when I smelled the smoke.
We left to run our errand and passed police vehicles and buses that were headed to Damonte Ranch High School. The emergency alert announcements were playing on the radio and this heightened Thomas and Lillian’s worries. The upside and downside of having technology savvy kids; they were both on their devices looking up information about it and getting more freaked out! At least I know they’ll know what to do in an emergency.
I had the news on for a while on the one news channel we get as I don’t pay for any cable or satellite services. Had to turn it off as Thomas was glued to it. Little dude had his coat on, his favorite toy and had already looked online and found us a place to stay for $29! And it didn’t help when we could see the flames nearing Mt Rose Hwy!
