Nature is What We See
“Nature is what we see –
The Hill – the Afternoon-
Squirrel-Eclipse-the Bumble bee-
Nay-Nature is Heaven-
Nature is what we hear-
The Bobolink-the Sea-
Nay-Nature is Harmony-
Nature is what we know-
Yet have no art to say-
So impotent Our Wisdom is
To her Simplicity. ~Emily Dickinson
Afternoon on a Hill
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.
And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!
~Edna St. Vincent Millay

Feel and smell the air.
Study the clouds and the trees.
Listen to the birds.
How many different kinds of songs can you hear?
What kinds of birds are they?
Injoy a sunset.
Notice and smell freshly bloomed flowers.
Notice and study new buds on a tree.
Notice the smell of newly fallen leaves.
Study the moon, stars, and clouds.
Walk barefoot in the grass, dirt, or sand.
Watch the waves in the ocean,
Or the ripples in a lake,
Or the rushing water of a river.
Notice the glimmer of freshen fallen snow.
Watch the sunlight dance and sparkle on the water.
Study all types of trees.
Get up close. Touch them.
Go for a walk for no reason other than to commune with nature.”
“The world slows
Time nearly stops
And I see.
I see your differences
I see the contrast.
I see what you impart.
You shine light
Upon the harmony of nature
So that I may see the
Oneness of nature and
The oneness of humanity
I am held in your loving
Embrace to have the all of all
Poured into my open heart.
And I say, yes, I see and
I will share and shine the light.” -2016 Camilla Downs – Author, Lessons from Nature
“Trunks and branches growing in opposite directions,
all with different views. Yet, you are eternally at peace.
Oh tree. You inspire me.” ~Camilla Downs – Author
You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one …. With each day my heart fills with more and more and more love and peace …. Yet, the love and peace is to be uncovered within before it is discovered without … xoxoxo
“Deeper and deeper I must go, your secrets I must know. Your presence delivers unbounded clarity. Your embrace awakens the ability to listen with an open heart, to hear the secrets you share.” ~Camilla Downs
“All that you witness I may never know.
Your strength is my strength.
Your patience reminds.
Your flexibility inspires.
As we dance this life together I reveal your beauty to you,
and you reveal my beauty to me.
Shall we dance?” ~Camilla Downs
