Adopting a Furry Companion for Thomas

Thomas found his new companion. A sweet, mellow boy. Thomas has been in need of an emotional support pet, having been diagnosed with depression. I’m so happy we are finally making this happen. ❤️❤️❤️

This is an incredibly delicate situation. Lillian has a fear of cats and is not at all pleased with this decision.

I spent hours talking with her last night, and about an hour just now. Which is actually an improvement. We talked about it rather than her having a full blown meltdown; which is what happened when I told her about a month ago! I feel in the end this is a positive as it helps her to confront her fear.

This is why I have been distracted for the past month. Times like this are what make parenting heart achingly difficult. Needing to do something beneficial for one child, that is something the other child is against. My brain and heart have been in a vice. ❤️💔❤️

I finally made it to Copper Cat Studio! I broke my favorite coffee mug several months ago, and when Katie posted a collection of gorgeous pottery, including mugs, that are available in the gift shop; I just knew one of the mugs was mine.

These photos do not do it justice. When I slipped my fingers around the handle of this one, my fingers fit perfectly. I turned it upside down to find the word “dream”. My hand and this mug were meant for each other. ❤️❤️❤️

I also found a few other treasures. Happy that I finally made it over there!

Yes I did! Felt so good. A swim and then the hot tub. My shoulders have finally relaxed!

Throwback Post: Grateful for the Full Plate of Opportunities

Just asked for a 2 day extension for the article I’m contributing to the Australian Institute on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

I am extremely, extremely grateful for the full plate of opportunities and just to spice it up I’ve got side dishes of trying to find us an affordable place to live by 9.15, facilitating workshops, subbing at HDMS as needed, and figuring out how to fit in 4 therapies a week for Lillian.

The rental market is CRAZY here and the prices are outrageous. When I do find a place, before I can get an app completed it’s gone! I am truly blessed and grateful and know that the perfect place will land in front of my eyes very soon! If it suits you, please send good juju to Team TLC finding a place before The Romano Duo leave on 9.15. Thank you …. xoxo

**December 8 2021** We did find that perfect place. Pictured above. We lived there from September 2015 through November 2019. We loved walking around the lake nearly every day. It was tiny, about 810 square feet, a one bedroom, one bath. It was the best I could do at the time. We adored living there, but were more than ready to move on to having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Hanging out at the library before Parent Information night at HDMS … loaded with chapter books for Thomas and Lillian. These two go through some books!

Light dinner before Parent Information Night at HDMS … YUM! French fries for Lillian, Pepperoni Pizza for Thomas and Salad for me …. Happy Team!

December 7 2021: A note of reflection as I read what I wrote with these two posts. I did not have the gas money to drive all the way home after school, and then back to the school for Parent Information Night.

I also didn’t have enough money for a full dinner for us. However, I did have a coupon for a free personal size pizza. I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu for me (salad), and Lillian was and is always happy with fries.

Thomas and Lillian did not know this is why we had this type of evening, as I tried my best to always make things seem like an adventure.
