Delicious Clouds With Progression of Thunder and Lightning

July 31 2022

More of these delicious clouds this morning.

August 1 2022

Progression of the clouds yesterday afternoon before we got about 20 drops of rain! 😂Smelled and felt so good.

August 5 2022

After the downpour of rain last night. That was a wild storm! Lightning strikes very close to us, with the loudest booming, cracking thunder I’ve ever heard. One struck so close to a car in front of our place, that it caused the car alarm to go off. Lillian and I screamed, with Basil running to hide. Wild!

August 6 2022

I think this was Thursday, maybe Friday.

Thomas’s hiking/camping trip had to end a day early due to the wild storm moving through. I didn’t feel up to picking him up, so thank you times a million to Frank for doing it for me.

Thomas Hiking on the Tahoe Rim Trail

August 3 2022

Drove to South Lake Tahoe this morning to drop off Thomas for a great 3 day adventure.

So bummed that I didn’t feel up to spending time at the beach or doing a bit of hiking. Tahoe is stunning!!

I’m thrilled for Thomas to be able to participate!

**Update on Thomas added – Message received from Tahoe Rim Trail Association: “The group has faced some challenging weather over the past few days but has persevered with the help of some weather shelters and their positive attitudes. They are a resilient bunch!

Due to lightning concerns throughout the afternoon, the group will not be hiking Freel Peak, but instead will be continuing their journey at lower elevation and in the trees for more protection. As of now, there is no lightning in their area, but we are committed to taking extra safety precautions to keep them safe throughout this adventure.”

Shortly after receiving this message, they sent another saying they were going to end the trip one day early as all equipment and the hikers were soaked from the rain.

Throwback Post: Important Thing by Lillian Darnell

**THROWBACK POST**

July 30 2011:

From Lillian y’all (she just emailed this to family as we are due for another thunder/lightning storm) . . . she cracks us up!! {I know my fellow C18 Parents get how worried this makes her!! Hahahaha}

Important Thing

Watch the clouds form:
Watch for signs of a storm coming. The clouds will begin to build into tall pillars. The sky will darken and a damp feeling will make you skin feel clammy. These are warnings to stay out of boats, get away from water and head for a safe shelter. When safely inside watch the clouds billow up and form huge dark piles of cloud. Soon you will hear the rumble of thunder in the distance, but there is no need to fear when you are safe inside.

Watch the Lightning:
Stay away from windows, but open the drapes and curtains so you can see the lightning flash and enjoy the excitement and beauty of it. The Bible calls lightning God’s arrows. There are many different kinds of lightning.

There is a heat lightning—usually associated with a summer evening storm.
There is forked lightning that splits as it nears the ground.
There is spear lightning that shoots a deadly spear almost straight toward the ground.

Eight Long Years – Respite for Camilla With Guinness 0

July 24 2022

It has been EIGHT years since I’ve had respite from Lillian and Thomas at the same time. Beginning right now, I have 7 days without both of them.

Eight years is a damn long time to go without a break. Gigantic THANK YOU to The Romano Duo for having Lillian over for the week. I shall cherish every second of this break!

July 26 2022

Oh my, WoW! Look what I found today. Guinness 0 – non-alcoholic. I’ve been waiting patiently for this to make its way to the US.

Before I stopped drinking alcohol about 5 or 6 years ago, Guinness, and similar beers, were my absolute favorite. This has been available for quite some time in Ireland.

I wasn’t even in search of it today. While I waited for my lunch from Maya’s South Indian Cuisine, I popped into the liquor store to see if they had the Black Butte non-alcoholic I found a few weeks ago. I found this instead.

Creamy, long-lasting head with hints of chocolate and coffee. Yes!! Had one with my burrito tonight.
