High Desert Montessori School – Alumni Celebration

August 11 2022

What a fun time! Thomas and Lillian attended HDMS from 2012 – 2016. I subbed there for three of those years. They started when HDMS was celebrating Ten Trips Around the Sun. Now at Twenty Trips, they have finally realized the dream of a full and total remodel bringing the entire school into one campus.

To celebrate they invited alumni for a fun event, with a scavenger hunt, 360 photo booth, raffle prizes, a silent auction, great food, music, and a tour of the new digs.

Thomas and Lillian got to see and reconnect with old friends, catch up with their teachers, and have a good time! I’m glad Thomas stayed on me to make sure we made it to this event. I am so happy for the school, with this reminding me how special our time was while Thomas and Lillian attended. Good times.

Thomas won this cool jacket in the scavenger hunt.

Eight Long Years – Respite for Camilla With Guinness 0

July 24 2022

It has been EIGHT years since I’ve had respite from Lillian and Thomas at the same time. Beginning right now, I have 7 days without both of them.

Eight years is a damn long time to go without a break. Gigantic THANK YOU to The Romano Duo for having Lillian over for the week. I shall cherish every second of this break!

July 26 2022

Oh my, WoW! Look what I found today. Guinness 0 – non-alcoholic. I’ve been waiting patiently for this to make its way to the US.

Before I stopped drinking alcohol about 5 or 6 years ago, Guinness, and similar beers, were my absolute favorite. This has been available for quite some time in Ireland.

I wasn’t even in search of it today. While I waited for my lunch from Maya’s South Indian Cuisine, I popped into the liquor store to see if they had the Black Butte non-alcoholic I found a few weeks ago. I found this instead.

Creamy, long-lasting head with hints of chocolate and coffee. Yes!! Had one with my burrito tonight.

Throwback Post: Thomas Knows and Slight Hearing Loss and Swimming and Walking

**THROWBACK POST**

July 30 2014:

Thomas knows Lillian is not thrilled to have his arm around her …. So he just kind of hovers it over her shoulder!

Lillian had another hearing test today which confirmed slight hearing loss in right ear and even more so in left ear. Next is an ENT doctor to make sure nothing is wrong in there. Lillian already says she will NOT wear a hearing aide.

Great swim after the hearing testing, fun game of UNO, and another awesome walk! Date day for me and Thomas tomorrow. YAY!

Throwback Post: The Litmus Test

**THROWBACK POST**

July 30 2015:

“The Litmus Test” …. Brought to us by the wonderful siblings of the Chromosome 18 Registry. The Sibling Panel is one of my favorite sessions at the conference. It’s the ONE session I do NOT miss.

Pretty much all siblings agree about “The Litmus Test” as something they unofficially use with new friendships and with potential significant others.

Two siblings had brought along their significant others and what they had to say made my eyes sweat! What they shared is so beautiful …. What they had learned being at the conference, the joy of being around all of us, and thanked us for having them.

I feel “The Litmus Test” applies all across the board … potential friends of the sibs, potential friends of the parents, potential significant others for sibs and potential significant others for parents. “The Litmus Test” … Sounds like a GREAT book title to me!!

And, Ronda, what your amazing daughter shared had my eyes sweating a river. I, too, feel that part of the purpose is to help us learn that change happens within our own minds and our beautiful children facilitate this for us.

Oceans of love and gratitude to the siblings and their significant others … xoxo  (Thank you Andy for facilitating the panel!)
