January 31 2012: Rough Day and Vanilla Cones and Pizza

Thomas had a rough time in class this morning. He didn’t earn his green card and was devastated! That also meant he didn’t earn play time after class and no extra five minutes before bed. Breaks my heart, but I know this is helping him learn how to be kind and respectful of others.

After dropping off Lillian for her therapies, Thomas and I indulged in a one dollar vanilla cone. These are so pretty! Cheers!

He LOVES a vanilla cone!

Thomas had another great time at acting class tonight. This was his second time and he’s getting to meet new kids and make new friends.

Came home, cooked our Papa Murphy’s pepperoni pizza and had a carpet picnic! Lillian did not feel good, so she laid on the couch to eat and read. She was finally feeling better by bedtime, thank goodness!

January 30 2012: Walking and Car Washing and Fixing Dinner

Thomas, Lillian and I went for a walk today after lunch. It was absolutely gorgeous! Thomas suggested we wash the car when we got back home! So we did . . .

We all had so much fun fixing dinner together and then it was bath time for Lillian and shower time for Thomas. They are thrilled when we have a Team TLC fixing dinner together night! Actually, all we did was warm up leftovers . . . same difference to them!

Before bed I read Huckle Cat’s Busiest Day Ever (amazon affiliate link) to Thomas and Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory (amazon affiliate link) to Lillian. The Richard Scarry book’s are fabulous. They are nostalgic for me because they always make me think of my Mammaw Mann. I love you Mammaw! Thomas and Lillian both love them, and who doesn’t like Curious George?!

January 29 2012: Cleaning and Parties and Painting

It was a “Cleaning All Day” event at our house this Sunday. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, scrubbing bathrooms for me. With a little help from Thomas and Lillian thrown in. I came around the corner to find this . . .

Lillian said she was teaching her beanie babies how to clean.

Then there was the party for the beanie babies in Thomas’ room.

On to painting for these two. What fun these two had painting together!

Thought this was cool. I sure can’t paint with both hands at the same time. Go Lillian Go!

Thomas’ masterpiece is Santa Sailing in a Boat:

Lillian’s masterpiece is a Spider Alien:

It was such a beautiful and amazing day! These two took their tent and cleaning outside.

Some sort of party for the beanie babies, cars and trucks!

Finally, it was Team TLC reading night. I was so darn ready for it tonight. I was pooped! Thomas read How Nearly Everything Was Invented (amazon affiliate link). This book is amazing. He’s checked it out more than once from the library. This is on my “get for Thomas” list! Lillian read Judy Moody: Around the World in 8 1/2 Days (amazon affiliate link). She said it was GREAT! I read a bit in You, Inc.: The Art of Selling Yourself (Warner Business) (amazon affiliate link). I read the book a while ago and felt it was refresher time. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a business owner, self-employed, entrepreneur and anyone wanting to learn how to best put forth their personal brand.

January 28 2012: Ancient Wonders and Machines and Adventures

Thomas spent much of the morning reading Ancient Wonders (amazon affiliate link). He said it is a GREAT book. When I saw it at the library, I knew he would like it!

Then he spent the rest of his morning watching Mighty Machines: Mega Machines (amazon affiliate link). He watches this one over and over. He asked if he could write to the library and tell them how much he likes the show. I suggested he send an email to the company that created the video. After we looked it up online he sent the company an email and then wrote a blog post about it also.

It was time to get out of the house so we went on a little adventure. Thomas and Lillian had been online looking for an adventure and Thomas wanted to go to The Circus {Circus Circus} or The Grand Sierra. He was very sad and upset when I told him we were not going to either of those places. I asked him to trust me and that I knew he would like what I had in mind! He finally said “Okay, I’ll give it a try.”

I’ve lived here since December 2006 and have never explored Washoe Lake State Park. That’s where we headed and oh, my goodness! Nature did not disappoint. It was an up and down emotion filled adventure as we drove through the areas touched and destroyed by the Washoe Valley brush fire a couple of weeks ago. Washoe Lake was absolutely amazing and beautiful and Thomas and Lillian loved it too! You will definitely hear more about Team TLC adventures to this gorgeous place! Thomas was thrilled and oh so happy with what I had chosen for our adventure!! 🙂 🙂

My silly attempt to get all three of us in the picture. I took three pictures and all three were of only ME! Ha!

Lillian was a bit unsure and off balance as we were on a deck built over the wetland area. If my gas tank had been full we would have drove around the Lake and explored more. A definite for next time!!

Headed home for dinner and Team TLC MOVIE NIGHT!

January 27 2012: Dark Chocolate Almond Milk and Pallet Night

Had a busy day working on getting my book ready to submit for printing in a few weeks! Began the evening with a yummy dark chocolate almond milk and banana shake with a secret ingredient! Oh, this was so good!

Thomas read Deputy Dorkface: How Sugaropolis Got Dessert Back (amazon affiliate link). He said it was so good he was going to read it every day. I don’t agree 100% that it’s that good. Moral of the story is awesome. I just don’t care for what led up to the moral! I think he likes how colorful the illustrations are in the book and it’s all about sweets and desserts!

Friday night is what we call pallet night around the Team TLC house. I make a nice cozy “bed” on the living room floor and they get to camp out there for the weekend! Lillian and Thomas look forward to this all week!

January 26 2012: Surprises and Reading

Turned in the last of my final projects today for obtaining certification as a Special Needs Life Coach! YAY!

Lillian told me I should lay down on the couch for a little rest. Guess my tiredness was showing a wee bit!

So I took a rest on the couch and closed my eyes for about fifteen minutes. I heard these two whispering and sneaking around. When I got up, Thomas had left this note for me next to my pillow. Then he gave me this little bag with another note and three hershey kisses. Lillian had made me a gift too, but I wasn’t allowed to open it. It’s hidden under my bed and I can open it on Valentine’s Day or my birthday. Hope we remember it’s there!

My heart just about bursts with happiness and warmth to come around the corner and find this. He was reading Uncle Scrooge in Duck Tales – Like a Hurricane (amazon affiliate link) and didn’t stop ’til he finished the entire book!! Said it was the best book he’d EVER read!

January 25 2012: Swinging and Shadows and Your Highness

Gallery

This gallery contains 8 photos.

It’s the simple things . . . playing with a blanket and having a ball. Thomas had a first time today with the swing. He has finally learned how to swing himself without me having to give him a push!! … Continue reading

January 24 2012: Green Card and Library and Celebrating

Thomas lost his green card in the last few minutes of class today. Poor guy was devastated! Each child gets a green card at the end of class for staying on the green light during class. After they’ve collected 30 green cards they get to choose an item from the treasure box.

His teacher and I have an additional layer also. Each morning I text Mrs. O’Connor with what Thomas is earning for keeping his green card. Sometimes, it’s getting to stay after school and go to Kids Zone, sometimes an extra five minutes before bed, sometimes a special sucker. This method is working great; but he does still stumble. Usually on a Monday or after having been on break for an extended period of time.

His day got much better though! After we dropped Lillian off for her therapies we visited the Sparks Library. Discovered yesterday it’s only five minutes from the therapy center! I’ve been sitting in my car all this time working and I could have been at the library! YAY!

We collected Team Member L at 4:00 and headed straight to his first acting class at Take 2 Performers Studio! This child was so excited, he could hardly stand it! The kids got to be spies on the way to the classroom. Took a quick picture before I left!

I was informed by Thomas when picking him up from acting class that we had to celebrate his first night of acting class. I hadn’t been prepared for that, was ready to get home and only had six dollars. I was hoping the bakery on the way to our house was still open, but it wasn’t. Only other places were McDonald’s and Subway. So we stopped at Subway, got a footlong BMT and a double chocolate chunk cookie and he was one happy kid! Here’s to you kid! I LOVE YOU!

January 23 2011: Snow and Mud and Acting

No school today for Thomas as it was a late start due to snow. Morning kindergarten is cancelled when it’s a late start! Thomas was sad because he was looking forward to seeing his friends.

I loved seeing Lillian play Atari with Thomas. She’s not shown interest in this before and hasn’t had the patience or motor skills to enjoy it. YAY!

Thomas was restless so I “encouraged” him to go outside to play! When I checked on him he said, “This mud looks like peanut butter.” Yes, Thomas, it does!

This afternoon Thomas had a meeting with Waters, the acting director at Take 2 Performers Studio. He starts his acting class on Tuesday. I won three months of acting classes for Thomas around Christmas! Justine, the owner, had a Toys for Tots drive and those who donated were entered to win 3 months of classes! WOW! What a gift! He is so excited!!!

January 22 2012: Pizza and Bowling and Painting

Thomas made a pizza for Lillian using Play-doh Twirl N Top Pizza Shop
(amazon affiliate link). I personally don’t care for the play-doh sold with all the accessories. Have such a hard time getting the play-doh out of all the cracks and crevices. I’d much rather them just use stuff from the kitchen!

Thomas and Lillian both played with their tinker toys. They have such fun creating things with these, taking em apart and doing it all over again. Thomas included soldiers from his Toy Story Bucket o Soldiers (amazon affiliate link) with the tinker toy creations. He wasn’t done yet! Then he brought out the Magna-Tiles (amazon affilate link) magnets to complete the magnificent creations he was had made (aka – the mess in the living room!)

Next, Thomas was in search of the bowling set. Shhhhh! Don’t tell them, I donated it to Goodwill!! So, I had to do some quick thinking. Hallway Water Bottle Bowling was born! He had a blast!!!!

On to painting a masterpiece for Thomas! He was so serious about this – said he was creating an illustration for a book!

Here’s the masterpiece! A tree, clouds, a person, a bird, grass, water and red flowers on the tree! He asked me if I thought someone would want to buy it. I said, “Of Course”!

All three of us went for a walk {Thomas rode his bicycle}. It was cold and windy; but I’m glad we got out of the house! So refreshing!

They both put on their blogging hats when we got home. Thomas wrote a post about Lillian and Lillian wrote a news flash about the weather.

And to end our night we had our traditional Team TLC reading night. Thomas read Wizards Of Mickey Volume 1: Mouse Magic (amazon affiliate link). This book absolutely captivated him. He so enjoys the graphic novels and I enjoy letting him read them when they aren’t full of death and destruction and gross stuff! These are perfect! Lillian read Fern: The Green Fairy (Rainbow Magic: The Rainbow Fairies, No. 4) (amazon affiliate link). This girl is all about the fairies!
