April 7 2019:

Beautiful, warm and breezy walk with Lillian. So lovely to have warmer weather with birds singing and trees beginning to bloom. Bonus!! Rock love!! 💖💖💖

April 9 2019:

Windy and cold sunset walk with Thomas yesterday. Love these cute seed pods scattered across the path and grass. Amazing sky and clouds.💚

April 11 2019:

My heart and soul smile when the purple carpet arrives … along with the flowering bushes. Sigh …. So in love with spring.

On the walk today. I chose to only take photos of color. Thank you Mother Nature!

Vegan Tacos and Lemon and Ginger Water and Meh-Shee-Ka

April 3 2019:

Mmmmm … That was so good!!! I’m in love with this seltzer water flavored with real lemon and ginger juice.

April 12 2019:

Finally, finally, finally got to eat here!! The birthday celebrations continue! Thank you Carolyn R Smith for my birthday lunch!! House of Mexica (Meh-Shee-Ka)

From the restaurant: “Meh-Shee-Ka – A Tribe of plant based Mexica united together to create Heaven on Earth through the powers of food, life, love, & light.”

From Me: A full vegan menu with a feel good vibe permeating the atmosphere. Our server (and also co-owner), Marv, was absolutely wonderful with an incredibly humble energy.

We split the asada fries to begin with … WOW!! So good!!! I had a burrito and Carolyn had a chimichanga. It was like a symphony of harmonious flavors performing a lovely concert in my mouth. One I did not want to end.

Thank you Carolyn for EVERYTHING! Thank you for treating me to lunch, to your company, and for treating me like a birthday queen. I love you and I love our friendship. 💜💜💜

Book Musings: Mary Poppins

April 7 2019:

My first love of reading was in the fiction genre as a child, teen and young adult. In about 1998, I switched solely to the non-fiction genre as I discovered an entirely different world and reason for reading.

I’ve come full circle and have incorporated fiction back into my life. Although as a young adult I read some horror books, I will not be incorporating that genre again. This was my first read in re-entering fiction a couple of months ago. 💜📖📖📖💜

Mary Poppins

I mainly wanted to read it as I was deeply curious after seeing the movie “Saving Mr. Banks” and how it was portrayed that P.L. Travers absolutely did not want Walt Disney veering from her story and all of the other things she did not want done to her story. It seems the movie did veer quite a bit away from the original story.

We’ve seen Mary Poppins many times and we love it so this was the sleuth researcher in me coming out to play! Travers was in a tough spot as she was about to lose her house and needed the money. After years of telling Disney “no”, she finally gave in.

Yet, it had some threads that remained true to the book. I truly don’t remember reading this when I was younger. Glad I read it now and that my interest was peaked by watching “Saving Mr. Banks.”

Sunset Healing and Miniature World of Moss with Three Little Birds in the Cold

April 2 2019:

Sunset walk with Thomas.

Breathe it in
Breathe it out

Look up
Look around

Keep walking
Keep writing

Keep knowing
Keep loving

Hold space
For them
For you

This is the Way
This is the unfolding
Nature of life.

April 3 2019:

Lillian and I visited the little garden behind the library today after volunteering. We went to look at and photograph the daffodils.

Yet, I was loving this Moss, even more than the daffodils. So soft and a beautiful shade of green. For some reason I hadn’t noticed it before. Got my attention this time! The moss is like a miniature world! So lovely!

April 5 2019:

Sunset walk with Thomas yesterday.

Every little things gonna be alright. Three little birds told me so. 🖤🖤🖤

Just about the only photos I get of Thomas these days … (3rd photo)

Letting the Laughter In and Wild Blueberry Hearts and Virginia City Fun

March 15 2019:

Last night the three of us laughed and laughed together. We each took an online quiz to determine our archetype. Mine and Lillian’s were pretty spot on.

Yet, Thomas’ results had us laughing, laughing, laughing. That felt so very good. We haven’t all three laughed together in a long time. Laughter is good medicine. Especially when done alongside those you love mostest. Here’s to silliness. Here’s to laughter. Here’s hoping you let laughter in … as often as possible .. Towanda … (Photo of Thomas on one of our 2015 walks)

March 16 2019:

Thawed and warmed frozen wild blueberries and they left a bit of love behind in the pan. Lovely blueberry stained heart shapes ….

March 16 2019:

Aunt Debbie is up from Mississippi visiting The Romano Duo. She always has to visit Virginia City when in the area.

Lillian and I went for a bit to listen to The Comstock Cowboys with them. And I got treated to a really yummy virgin Bloody Mary. Yum!! Thank you Aunt Debbie and Mom n Frank. ❤️❤️❤️

Movie Night: Christopher Robin

March 9 2019:

Team TLC Movie Night -My choice: “Christopher Robin” – Put this on hold several months ago. It was finally our turn!

I say, “Beautiful, heartwarming story of living a mindful life. Winnie the Pooh is a master at living in the present moment. Love, love, loved it.”

Quote from the movie, “Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something.” – Christopher Robin

Lillian says, “Good, emotional, good moral, liked the music, and my favorite character is Madeline.”

Thomas sat this one out.

A Philosophy of Walking by Camilla Downs

A Philosophy of Walking

And she walked.
And she walked.
She walked until
Arriving at
The home of
Peace and Joy.
Discovering once there,
She had been
Here all along.

I went for an hour long walk this morning. My body and mind did not want to go. I went anyway.

Just as a cool glass of water slakes my thirst on a scorching hot day, going for walks quenches the thirst of my soul and heart to know my true self, to heal, to release, to allow joy, and to be at peace. Walking guides me in the loving way to process life, to fulfill life, and to let life be.

For the past 18 years I have been going for walks. The meaning and depth of the walks have ….
