First Quilt Piece Collected

April 30 2018:

Camilla Jumping Washoe Lake April 2016

I did it! I just “collected” the first quilt piece for the story. I’ve been resisting doing this … sitting down to write and just randomly picking a memory to write about. It was uncomfortable, but once I got going I didn’t want to stop.

This was a memory from 16 year old Camilla and a time she lived in Terry, Mississippi in what she called the Crazy House! Who remembers that crazy lopsided mess of a house?

The idea is just to get memories and events down on paper and at some point start piecing them together. I won’t bore everyone with a post every time I do this; yet, I was excited for FINALLY starting!!

And … I just remembered something. I had made it my intention and vow to begin writing by the end of this month. HA!! Did it! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a previous post from a few days ago … https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156428080041584&set=a.52927246583.79053.681171583&type=3&theater

Book Musings: Silence

April 29 2018:

Silence – The Power of Quiet in a World Full of Noise

I get incredibly much from all of Thich Nhat Hanh’s books. Of all I’ve read, they carry the similar thread of mindfulness and experiencing silence.

I really enjoy the stories he shares throughout this book and all of his books. Reading this now is what reminded me of the concept of mindful walking and breathing that he puts forth … taking one step for each in breath and one step for each out breath.

After being reminded of it in this book, I incorporated it into my walks. Here’s the post I made about that …. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156408782591584&set=rpd.681171583&type=3&theater

Loved this book!!

Collecting Quilt Pieces – A Memoir

April 29 2018:

I’m collecting quilt pieces!! However, I haven’t suddenly learned how to quilt! These are for a story. My story – A memoir.

This will take a year or longer and may be more than one book depending on how I go about this. And this is why I’m collecting these quilt pieces … To help craft a pattern.

For anyone who has known me from birth through childhood, teenage years through now ….

If I’ve ever written to you (on paper or digital), would you mind sharing that with me.

If I shared a story with you, would you mind re-sharing with me?

Any times we shared together that stand out for you?

Did we interact with one another during a major shift or life event I was experiencing? Does something stand out for you? (Or was I there for you in some way during a major shift or life event?)

And anything else you feel moved to share … You can post here, message me or email me (first and last name at gmail). Thanks so much everyone for your contribution to the finished quilt!! xoxo

Movie Night: Mary Poppins

April 28 2018:

Team TLC movie night – Thomas’ choice: “Mary Poppins” .. We’ve seen this several times, yet Thomas says he wasn’t in the mood for any of the other choices.

Thomas says, “I liked it because I like the classics.”

Lillian says, “Good, liked the singing, 100% recommend it, and my favorite characters are Mary Poppins and Jane.”

I say, “There is so much one can say about this wonderful movie. So, I’ll just say I’m blessed to have used the spoonful of sugar theme during my early parenting years and have consistently used Supercalifragilisexpialidocious throughout parenting. It does indeed instantly change the mood!!”

Thomas and Camilla April 2018 Date Day

April 28 2018:

Thomas and Camilla April 2018 Date Day ….

Annual fundraiser for the school Thomas attended for 1st-4th grade …. Kids on Big Rigs 2018.

This would be pure torture for me if I didn’t know it creates much joy and happiness for Thomas. It’s incredibly loud with sirens and horns blowing non-stop. Thomas doesn’t care for that part at all, he loves to ask questions and look at the vehicles and equipment. And, he did ask many, many great questions.

Yet, I did have a complete ball dancing to the DJ music while we waited in line for the wee little train ride. If there’s good music, I can have fun as long as I can dance. Plus, with that big beautiful blue sky overhead, I was able to look up, focus on my breath and create a buffer between all the noise.

Thomas and I had a wonderful walk in the rain yesterday afternoon!

He’s created an entire new country of the lake with the sandbar as home base. Complete with ports, a capital, currency, military (ducks and geese), and much more. We spent much much time discussing this.

And, squeal!!! Got to see our first duckling!! Cutest lil peep peep sound!! Topped off with a carpet of pink blossoms. They’re even beautiful when the wind blows them from the trees.

Humane Society volunteering for Thomas and I yesterday! We visited the small animal room. Full to the brim with rabbits and Guinea pigs. So many cats and dogs too.

It’s your lucky day if you were thinking of adopting. It’s Maddie’s Pet Adoption Day and it’s free to adopt today. Be sure and research though, as rabbits and guinea pigs are delicate and are very much different than a cat or dog.

What a blessing … xoxo … Causes my heart to go pitter patter … xoxo

“I read Lillian’s book on a plane trip and having a few hours up my sleeve, I found myself lost in a wonderful world of imagination. Everything on and in this Earth having a reason to be and having a name. What a delight, what a beautiful soul Lillian is and projects this into her stories.

I recommend reading this magical book of tales and get lost in days gone by when the world was a nicer place to be in. You will close the book with a smile on your face and a feeling of just emerging from a wonderland. Well done Lillian, I love your mind and stories you share with us.” -Ailsa, Australia
